    Smile Motivate Sketch Team

A little experiment to help motivate a sketch a day.
    At least one sketch. Anything.

This first one is from DSG 1364. My tablet is functional again. Yay.

Hi, you should study from Loomis, hes really good explaining and teaching how to draw the human figure, you can get his books at www.fineart.sk .
You will also see in his book about figure drawing that he uses a simplified stick men where he teaches you the correct proportions, study that before moving to harder and more detailed stuff.

Try correcting the lenght of the arms of your stick me, they are very long, also, make the stomach area longer.

Keep your motivation up, Jesus Bless you.

Not much worth posting today, but I want to make sure I at least get one thing up everyday. I'm not sure if I should divide my time evenly between tablet and paper, or get the skills down on paper first.

I had the loomis book in pdf before, but never got into it. I started with the "mannikins" today. Thanks for the comment and crits 223.

    Just doodles. (pre-loomis)

On the computer, with a screen cap of loomis for a guide. (trying to get used to that tablet.)

Some more loomis figures on paper. The first set is without reference, and the second set is with the reference. Still trying to find good scanner settings. Crits an comments welcome.

Another set of proportion sketches. Busy day today, but I think I'm still making progress. Maybe I should start posting additional stuff during the day to get some feedback...

Yay, hatzilla, welcome to the thread
Figure drawing part 2: Tiny hips, need help.

Starting on the next stage of the figures.

    excerpt from a sketch page.

Look how tiny that hip disc is! I really have to work on that.

    Not bad, getting better.

Time to get some mechanical pencils. These figures still don't have the right disc proportions.

The discs are still way too small. It turns out they should actually be almost as large as the head.

This is the most recent one and I think the proportions on the left figure are pretty good vertically. Plus a bonus creature thing.

Better late than a brain-hungry zombie.

So it seems I'm late as usual and things have fizzled out a bit. I'm gonna do a quick and dirty animation a day even if no one else posts! Blarrr! Dare you challenge my dirt????!

The idea is to build up my sketching within the realm of animation, since animation is my main goal. I'm trained more as a 3D animator, so I'm working on my 2D drafting skills. Even drawing consistent circles in this exercise was quite a challenge. I'll get up to anatomic/shaded characters eventually, though!

More with figures, all very quick. Trying to let the proportions come naturally, but that's still a ways off. Still not confidant enough to sketch real people.

I'll try to mix something more interesting in the future posts, I know these can't be exciting for anyone stumbling into this thread.

P.S. My heads feel so flat... anything asides contour lines that I could do?
