A free gun with your car, mister?

...laugh or cry.... laugh or cry.

That's the first time I've said Oh mah gaaaawd out loud while reading a news article I think...... In that slightly hillarious terrified way.

Free gun with your car, mister?

Wow that's crazy. I know there are gonna be a lot of people having guns on them that shouldn't... Road rage anyone?

Besides I would have taken the gas card. I don't want a gun and I don't know how to handle them anyways... Wouldn't want any fatal accidents.

I would not have taken the gas card, I would have taken another car dealer. And stopped talking to anyone I know who would do business with these nutcases.

clearly this is a car dealer that foresees a zombie outbreak.

How nice would it be if there would be a zombie outbreak, and there are guns in every car. It would be like the games!

Oh, that is a good point.
I would most certainly go to another car dealer if thats what they were trying to do. The whole thing is wacko.

I don't understand why the dealership chose to give away a free gun but I don't see a problem with it. As long as it is done in a legal fashion, what is the problem?

    Oh great a Drive-By Package!

    That is just...wrong.
They seem to give away firearms with everything today in America.
Open a bank account = get a free gun!

I would totally go for that deal if the gun was mounted on the car Twisted Metal-style.

I've seen the 'start a checking account get a free gun' deal before.

I wouldn't be to worried about this, its not like anyone can afford to drive anymore anyway.

That's a $200 gun (at best. And one that has jamming issues). I'd have taken the gas card. Suckuhs.

I think that people are reading into this the wrong way. It actually is not that new an idea, it caught on orriginally with bank accounts when they realised that the rate of interest could not reach the same level as the rate of interest, and so they started offering things that would still be of value to people even if the economy was to fall as low as it could possibly go in exchange for a lower interest rate. In other words, if you were optimistic you'd opt for interest on the money in your account, and if you were pessimistic you'd opt for the gun.

Plus, as they need all your info to give you a bank account or a car then they can easily do a background check on the spot. Seeing as it is more likely that you will kill someone with the car they don't really worry about it too much anyways.

A desert eagle is nothing more than overpowered compensation to make up for what someone lacks in their whitey tighteys. A glock on the other hand is cheep, can take a hell of a beating, its easy to clean, and you can drop it in a mud puddle, kick it, pick it back up, and go back to shooting. Granted the thing is ugly as hell but thats beside the point.

Yes, the .50 DE will make a big bang and blow a big hole wherever the tip is pointing, but if you value your hands or if you just want to keep them in a condition to hold the gun steady for a second shot then you want something with enough firepower to do the job and thats about it.

Granted, a glock is cheep enough that I'd probably just buy it sepparately from the car... does anyone know if they hand out mp5's?

    You forgot "lacks a safety".

    As for the car dealership,
it's not like they are just handing the guns out to anyone.
The people still need to have a license for the gun, which means they have previously met all the requirements to carry a concealed weapon.
Ie. background check, safety course and waiting period.

However, turning a firearm into an impulse buy is a pretty stupid idea and should be frowned upon.

I saw this on the news and what the dealer is doing offering a voucher is part of the payment for the gun or you can use it for gas .
He states that people our putting the voucher to get the gun more than the gas and you have to have the gun permits to buy a gun as well..

Thats not neccesarily a bad thing. It is designed for law enforcement use. If a cop needs to quickly get to his gun forgetting to click off a safety can be the difference between life and death. Relieing on a safety can be dangerous anyways; if people always know the gun has no safety then they are less likely to be careless.

Anyways its not a hairtrigger, the trigger needs to be fully pulled back before it can fire, so its not going to just go off at any second. It also helps if you aren't stupid enough to have it lieing around with a round in the chamber.

These things are just common sense with gun ownership. However, if it really is that big of an issue then it is possible to have a trigger locking safety added.

Eh? Last time I used a Glock, it had a safety as far as I can remember.

No safety is always bad. Cop or not.

I'd walk a mile around anyone doing the car and gun deal though. Seriously.
