    Least Favorite Smiley

Does anybody else have a smiley that drives them up a wall?

I love most of the smileys, especially ilaekae (pissed off kitten yelling through megaphone = win) but the arselicking smiley just creeps me out.

To the extent that I'm like, was there some terrible boy scout campout event that I've repressed forever that is causing me to cringe at this fucking smiley?

    eeeg.

Anyone else with a smiley that they can't stand?

Well the only emoticon that I don't like is this one: ""
    It disturbs me a bit.

queen- thats from the "Elwell" thread, it means that Elwell has the nuts to take care of bizness round here...see, squirrel with the large nuts..get it? meh...you had to be there...

i wish they would swing actually..

jinxtgr- when the smileys are used properly, they add strength to a written statement which provides an insight into where the poster is coming from. You never know with the internets nowadays...
    for example:

" I'll have to take a piece of that action... "
" I'll have to take a piece of that action... "
" I'll have to take a piece of that action... "

ass lick smiley takes it a step beyond the ass kiss, thats where you just stepped over the boundary of kissing someones ass and just plain slurping it...if you ever get one of those....reassess your current situation and motives for expressing your praise...they are obvious to everyone but you.
    cant remember who said this

" In this industry, you accomplish nothing by kissing ass, only by working your ass off" -some famous comic book guy

dont you have something better to do btw...other than over-examining forum smileys and rating them on how they make you feel? go draw something.

    well all righty then.

It's funny because right now my work is 99% devoted to building an ability to draw from the ground up- not in a fine-arts or representational way but more in the iconic sense like you'd find in cartoons, so it's all about trying to make simple and affecting character designs with zero innate ability to make appealing drawings- and what do you know, there's a little tiny iconic drawing that just squicks me all out of proportion to what it is.

All the more reason to keep on trying to work out how that stuff works!

This may be the lounge but it is still ConceptArt.org. An extremely respectable and focused artistic community full of professionals. Topics about Smilies I expect on deviantart or Gaia (no offense jinxtigr).

See, now this is the kind of sass I expect from the Lounge.

As for original topic, the blinky animated ones (ie machine gun mohawk dude) make me crazy. Especially in signatures. Twice or more. Ugh.

Well then if you are so focused and professional, then stop complaining and you go draw something.

I can see if you think the topic is dumb then don't reply to it, simple as that.

I'm not sure if I was in that thread or not, lol.

Anyways, here lately I've seen a lot of people getting into arguments, that makes me sad. Don't do this guys.

Let's all just relax a bit, please. Nothing wrong with taking a little break from drawing and having a little fun, right? If we all tried to be professional all the time, it would be a very boring site.

Alright....back to the topic. I am not fond of the either.

But I really love the , , and ...they are so comical.

    This smiley is precious-

The machinegun mohawk dude is annoying to me (expecially when used in signatures for attention).

I find it odd we have no  smiley, I've wanted to use that quite a few times but, alas, it was not to be found.

The other strange thing is that the smileys that appear in the typing form are always really obscure ones. It would be better if the default ones, like happy, angry etc, were there instead. I don't know how often the need to post or comes up rather than a smiley face.

I don't know, maybe I'm a visual person or something, but I really enjoy the smilies, even this one:

It is my humble personal wish that some day we'll be able to communicate soley by the use of smilies here on CA, and we'll all finally be totally, completely understood on the most deepest and meaningful level ever attained on the web.

That being said, the smiley's are an art form themselves and as Jason mentioned resulted in a bunch of unique smiley's specific for this forum. The more the merrier I say..

the squirrel nuts one doesn't quite make sense in the way it should lol: Perhaps a smiley juggling or playing with "balls" in some way, to say hey "I've got balls!"

Maybe a smiley surrounded by all kinds of sport balls or holding a bucket of tennis balls. So it's less phallic or obvious in a sexual sense. I dunno lol

That would detract from the benevolent dictator image though.

damnit I replied to this thread.....

Edit: I think Ca.org has the best emoticons on the net. They're cohesive and have their own style (at least most of them do). By the way, where the hell is Prom(ethus|anj)?
