    Bruce Timm MYSTIQUE!

    Y'hello all!
Here's my 2nd attempt at a Bruce Timm sculpt. I did this as a speed sculpt over a weekend.
    Gimme crits pleeze;don't be shy!

    Reference:

    Armature:

    Sculpey-ing:

Head in progress(very important Bruce Timm component,I've discovered)

    Hair in progress:

    Head being attached:

    Full body:

    Scales in progress:

Scales finished and sculpt primed. I thought I'd give her 'rough hewn' scales;like she could rip a guy to shreds by just caressing him!

Concept for base;Mystique leaning over the Xmen's gravestone!

Base in progress.Made of modelling cardboard and evostick! With Sculpey laid over:

    Base done and primed!

    Close up of the lady:

Whatcha think, folks?(Yes I see the thumbprint...)

    Looking good!

But I'm not the right person to give crits, so I'll leave that to someone else. :p

You obviously have a very good idea about what you are sculpting. Especially for just a weekends work.
Before I give you any suggestions, I have to say that it depends what you are aiming for here. You have obtained a strong pose with a somewhat cartoonish look (if you ask me ;-)
I would suggest using a little more time on her body-proportions - and as you have an airbrush - using more time to build up the highlights and shadows. She could use some paint under her right hand ;-)

Thanks Aseyngel. It is a cartoonish look...it's a Bruce Timm representation hence the stylised body proportions...Good catch on the hands...I saw it but was too lazy...

LOL - dont I know about being lazy ;-)
Of course you put the picture of your intentions first - and that was pretty much what you obtained.
You should be proud of the pose - I find it very striking.

Wow you've sure got a quick pace!
So you did this over the weekend, I'm curious did you set yourself this as a time limit to finish, or did it just take that long?

I'm not the best 'critter' but I would say if you get a chance maybe just go back and sharpen up the eye paint details.
Overall good job man, what's next??

Nice work! And boy do you work fast.

I couldnt help but notice, the waist and hips seem a little assymetrical

Hmmm...not really Jun5.It's the stylised reference art that looks that way. Here's a comparison:

(FX Console looks great, by the way!)

Looking great next to the X men!

Ah, I get the look about the Bruce Timm styled hips and waist. But just thought that from certain angles, the body seems asymmetrical. Might be the camera angle

    Im talking abt this one:
