Please help with Wacom Intuos3 problem!

I recently bought a new Wacom Intuos3 DinA5 wide tablet to work on my widescreen monitor. Now I have a strange time delay:

Whenever i bring my tablet pen towards to tablet to use it, there's always an initial delayed response by the pen. It doesn't begin moving on the screen for a few seconds, and this happens like ever time i bring the pen too far from the tablet for too long and it's getting really annoying waiting for my pen to activate/ respond on the screen.

Are you familiar with this problem?

Any help with this problem is much appreciated!

    Thank you!

    Chris

I've only noticed this during initial login, when all the 'stuff' be loadin.
I'd look at background processes/services. If the tablet's led is responding the hardware is good, if not, bad hardware. Wacom europe has a forum, perhaps better help can be found there.

I had a similar problem with my Intous3 which I could solve by plugging it in one of the "main" USB-Ports on my mac. Wacom Tablets and USB hubs seem to dislike each other.

If your Wacom isn't plugged into any hub, did you install the drivers that came with it or the latest one from the wacom site?

    Hope I could help

    cheers

    Michael.

Thank you for your fast answers.

I have tried everything and now i had the chance to test the tablet on another computer with a Vista operating system... same problem. The LED isn't blinking when the problem occurs so I really think i have a deffect tablet and something is wrong with the hardware.

I will get a new tablet the next days and hopefully it really was the hardware

    Thx again!

    Best wishes,

    Chris

It really was the hardware. I have got my new tablet today and have tested every combination. It seems like I had a bad tablet.

    Best,

    Chris
