Thumbs up New Character Design Book!

This might border on spam because I'm a contributing artist for this book but I think it would be really useful to a lot of artists on CA! I had mentioned this book in my sketchbook but I would like to post it here since it has started shipping today!

    Character Design From Life Drawing
    by Mike Mattesi

Clicky here to preview it on Amazon!

It primarily focuses on the importance of quick sketch and gesture but also teaches about the importance of shape, the rule of thirds and hierarchies of design choices. I like that it encourages you to not rely directly on reference but to feel confident to make wise deviations from what you're observing. The preview on Amazon kinda blows, doesn't show any of the excellent finished work in the book :/ There are 15 contributing artists (like Teddy Newton, omg!) in addition to the author who created works based off of costumed models and each artist explains their design choices, which I found really helpful. I'm barely halfway into the book but from what I've gleaned so far, it's going to be a permanent part of my library.

Wanted to share and hope that you guys might get something out of it! There was good response to my last book recommendation on CA so I wanna keep sharing the wealth
