DEEP: Undersea Utopia - Information Thread

DEEP: Undersea Utopia - Information Thread

DEEP: Undersea Utopia is a cohesive challenge between the 5 Community Activities.

Starting May 15th, 2008, and running until 11:59 pm on June 30th, 2008, all the weekly contests will be combined and unified under one topic, "DEEP: Undersea Utopia". The topic was specifically chosen to be very open ended so that the community itself has the chance to create an epic world.

The Threads for each Community Activity are found at the respective links:
    Creature of the week
    Character of the week
    Environment of the week
    Industrial design of the week
    Panels of the week

    Judging
Judging will be based on the principles of Overall Contribution, Quality, & Idea Development.

    Poll'd Prizes
Each Community Activity will have it's own poll.
1st Place winners in each poll will have their choice of a conceptart.org download and a CA/MB Workshop admission ticket to any workshop of their choice! (the New Zealand workshop is coming up this fall btw...)
2nd place in each poll will get - 5 conceptart.org downloads (winners choice)
3rd place in each poll will get - 1 conceptart.org download (winners choice)
    - all winners recieve a full copy of CORTEX COMMAND BY DATAREALMS. Art in this game was done by CA resident Prometheus|anj!

Aside from the polls, there are going to be two Judged Prizes; Grand, and a runner up.

    Judges
Jason Manley, El Coro, Android Jones.

    Judged Prizes
Grand Prize: Workshop Tickets for life! That's right folks, if you win this contest you will be added to the permanent VIP guest list for the ConceptArt.Org workshops from here to eternity. It doesn't matter if it is New Zealand, Shanghai, San Francisco, or any other city. If we are putting on a MB/CA workshop you will get right in, front of the line. And yeah...you can bring one friend free! + All released conceptart.org downloads
    Runner-Up place: 10 conceptart.org downloads + 2 DVDs + workshop admission ticket*
    - all winners recieve a full copy of CORTEX COMMAND BY DATAREALMS. Art in this game was done by CA resident Prometheus|anj!

*Admission Ticket will be to any future workshop of choice

(all rules, prizes may change if jason yells at me)

One of my favorite natural environments... I absolutely have to compete in this one, no question. I was waiting for the next COW to do that, so this just tops it by a million!

so do we do one peice per activity or just focus on one category like CHOW, COW, etc?

So... is the challenge to come up with ONE singular image OR are there separate challenges (per discipline [creature, enviro, etc.]) that will all have an individual winner?

Sorry if I'm being dense here... there's just not much light down here at 20,000 fathoms.

Lemme put this diplomatically, BuckWeisel and verithin...

You do ONE image in only one of the Challenge areas, you're dead. I have a shovel and I will bury you.

If you do ONE image/presentation in all five of the Challenge areas to their particular rules, you rise to the level of Pussy. Can you live with that?

If you turn in five ideas in all five challenges, you just might be close to being considered a serious participant, and the same if you turn in 20-50 images in two or three of the Challenges.

    That about cover it?

No position or belief, whether religious, political or social, is valid if one has to lie to support it.--Alj Mary

Ironically, the concept of SIMPLICITY is most often misunderstood by simple-minded people. --Alj Mary
