hahaha ah no sé, es que por lo poco y nada que he visto en la tele, en la tarde dijeron que los tribunales de Pto Mont tiraron la orden de evacuar "a la fuerza" y los sacaron a todos

Those ash clouds look scary with lightning. Well, even though a lot of people evacuated, it does not mean they are safe. The ash is like microscopic glass fragments...breathe enough of it and it will damage your lungs and can sometimes kill. From the satellite photo, it looks like it is over a large area and it is blowing around. Yech.

the large area you mention is Argentina. Villages and even cities are being affected by the ashes. I heard the ashes are arriving to Buenos Aires (AR) and Santiago (Cl)

    cheers!.

Those are some phenomenal photographs. I was just watching a thing on volcanoes on TV the other day and they showed a brief clip of one erupting and I noticed the lightning in the ash cloud being ejected. I had never known about them before, but it makes a lot of sense. But it was nothing like the ones captured here. It looks unreal.

Im in Buenos Aires, for now the air has this strange smell, ashes smell, and the sky has a very slight grey layers, aslmost imperceptible, but nothing else for now, but in many other cities the ashes has affected the area covering all.

I wonder if a volcanic ash cloud of that magnitude has climate implications?

Undoubtedly, the only question is how much (see for instance, the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991, Krakatoa in 1883, or the Year Without a Summer of 1816). Volcanism is the wild card in the global environment.

A TV movie about exactly this is Supervolcano. I was pleasantly suprised as it's an awesome tv movie / docudrama.

I watched a documentary about Supervulcano, was great (despite the fact they show same animation every 10 minutes, aaargh).

Supervulcano erupting would be the end of the north america, since the cloud of dust would be so big so the conditions would be hazardous.

And the pictures are amazing, wow. Looks so unreal.
