Here they come!
The Host - Many things are described as "the Host", angelic choires, fae armies. One of the defining points of the Host is that on an individual level, they are also called "the Host". Research material can be found on wikipedia and monstropedia ( http://www.monstropedia.org/index.php?title=Sluagh sluagh means "host"). This is an open ended topic. "the Host" can be many differen things: Angels, Demons, Faerie creatures. Your job is to depict ONE of them.
Angel, Warrior Angel, Sluagh, Host. Sithra Akhra
Thanks to Studio Colrouphobia for the suggestion!
CONCEPT ART SIDEBAR:
A little easier this time, just include one rough alternative version of the character, or the same character but of an alternate 'host' race.
No side bar, no poll.
FOLLOW THE TOPIC.
POST YOUR FINAL IN THE FINALS THREAD.
SAVE YOUR FILES IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT. Chow##_Nickname
PLACE THE IMAGE IN A FRAME WITH YOUR NAME/TOPIC
(you can add CA logo, etc).
WEDNESDAY, May 14th, 2008
The way the deadline works: if deadline is on a Sunday and your image is posted on that Sunday 23:59 your local time it's a good entry.
In fact - as long there is Sunday somewhere on the planet your entry is ok. I will make the poll sometimes Monday evening my time (GMT - 8 ) yet I'll have a look at the last entries.
POST YOUR FINALS IN THE FINALS THREAD!
Remember to include your nickname in the filename.
About quality - as general rule: if your shapes and values are not decent - you are out. Watch proportions, perspective etc. we need perfectly readable shapes and coherent, consistent values.
BE PROFESSIONAL - only finished and good quality entries will be taken to the poll. Oregano and Daestwen (yay!) will make the selection.

Is it safe to assume the "deadline" will be updated to reflect next sunday's date of May 11th instead of the already past May 4th?
Id like to participate, but if Im too late...well darn.
When i think of of a host i rather think of a normal person who is posessed by an evel demon or an alien parasite.
I read the Merry Gentry novels so I think of it as a nightmarish creature.... we'll see how this goes, but it sounds like fun!
Mmmm I dunno - seems an awful lot like the Soul Collector CHOW from a year ago. At least in setup...especially since the requirement is to do only one of the group.
Maybe a more interesting turn would be to do three (or thereabouts) "different but similar" of the group? That way you can get the sense of the collective as well as see distinct differences within that collective group?
I'll shut up now before Teacher assigns more homework.
I looked at yours, now you look at mine...sketchbook here
"The doctor said I wouldn't have so many nosebleeds if I kept my finger outta there." - Ralph Wiggum
"Never keep up with the Joneses. Drag them down to your level." - Quentin Crisp
"Ordinary morality is only for ordinary people." - Aleister Crowley
Thank you for the clarification Daestwen.
If I can carve out a bit of time, I'll try to submit.
Tight topic! I'll see if I can get the hands on the clock tied behind it's back so I can have it. Oh no wait.....,
Mother work is calling..............................grrrrrrr
I'll try my best to participate in this one even if I don't get farther than the wip......................
Have a look at my sketchbook at:
This seems like a very personable topic. I'm really curios how everyone interrupts this topic.
for the side bar, when you say alternative version do you mean another character example of the 'host' or then the other option it says like the same character but say instead of a fae, a demon?
this seems like a really fun topic :] lets see if i can whip some time together...
Available for Commissions
What does "alternate version" of the character mean? A different pose/accessories as a sidebar piece?
Edit: Someone above me just asked that! Sorry daestwen! ^^()
Sweeeet!! I saw this one in the suggestions thread and really wanted to do it. Ahhh I hope I make it this time (miserably failed the last two chows).
yeah im in on this.
Man I've been wanting to get in on the Chow wagon, and what a great one to start out with. can't wait to get to work on this one.
Was thinking of getting involved in CHOW...and saw this topic. Right up my alley! Now let's get chowin'.
P.S. Tried to do a search on "Sithra Akhra" but nothing came up. What is that?

from http://www.atomick.net/fayelevine/pk/demons/pk003.phpThe Minions of Sitra Akhra
Sitra Akhra could be translated "the other side". Some philosophers believed that all things were created by and subject to God (including demons), but others wondered if the things which were so unspeakably evil had their origins in another realm outside of God's command, or at least if there was a place forsaken by God, or where the inhabitants had no respect for God at all. This produced the idea of Sitra Akhra, the closest I've seen to a classical Hell in the Christian sense, where the inhabitants are purely evil and have completely forsaken God, existing only to satisfy their perverted whims. The demon Samael (who is often equated with Satan) is sometimes said to live here. Any being from Sitra Akhra would be completely evil, malevolent, and very dangerous.
Daestwen - Since angels and demons can get quite strange looking and this is CHOW, do these have to be humanoid?
That being said, if you go non-humanoid, remember they still have to read as a character. I love abstract angels, but since this is ChOW, we have to get *some* sort of personality and character traits from them... So you'll still want something that can portray emotion, but anyone who's seen a baby seal knows that you don't need to be humanoid for that.
wO! this one! I ll do my best on my first chow ^^
This is the sketch i did this afternoon while reading some of the info at Monstropedia.
