Wow really impressive colors(very interesting). I think some of the first paintings seem to be a little stretched or skewed, but its ok anyway they are all very good.

    Keep drawing

    Wow, lots of comments.

Just wanted to say, I like your pencil speed.

And the ambience on the hooded girl is something I aim for (sometimes), inspirational.

your color choices are gorgeous, I wish I knew how to manipulate colors so well.. Some structural flaws but nothing too bad... I must say after seeing your SB I'm a little disappointed by your african warlord CHOW entry... if you're participating this week, I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

Thanks for the amazing response everyone!

I really appreciate the critiques and comments..its a big encouragement for me to work on my weak points (especially when I see different people make similar observations, haha).
Its kind of overwhelming to thank everyone individually, but I'd like to try and answer questions If I can!

Asire- haha, yea Im the black sheep of the sequential department here at SCAD. I'm actually graduating this year..the year they just decided to bring cintiqs into the lab.

RandAlThor- I like to take several different approaches to coloring a sketch depending on the complexity and subject matter. Lately I've been fond of working in greyscale or monotone and then glazing colors over. The disadvantage to this method is that colors can often appear flat or their values incorrect or dull, so I only use it as a starting point. Sometimes after that Ill create adjustment layers over the top of the original and erase out the areas I want to stand out.

heres an update..CHOW, studies & an attempt to paint that torso everyone seems to like.. I dont think Im going about it the right way but I still feel I learned a few things. trying to kick the bad habits is hard, but I'll keep at it.
I've linked some saved points...I hope they make more sense than I do!

Very dynamic line usage, the paintings have very interesting color usage... Mostly I'm enjoying the loose nature your hands have created in the drawings. Although they do transition into solid form as you work your paintings... I like how you've achieved the stone textures in the painting of the sculpture (I also see an 'S' in the right hand side there...)

    Anyway, nice work
    -Shawn

Very nice use of texture on the torso, the right leg form our pov
has a few random edges that flattens the leg, but overall
the image has a very good sense of form, care to share the ref?

    I also liked this face

oh and I really enjoyed the strokes on this one

Dang, how I craved for this! Please update more often! All is really great, also you could push the energy-level in some of your paintings even higher if you used the saturation more. Here: http://www.conceptart.org/forums/att...1&d=1216073503 I think it would add a lot to make it more colorful, especially on that red dude.

Damn I'm in no position to drit you, just please feed us more!

GREAT stuff! Really nice moods throughout, like how much detail i pull out of your brushstrokes. Awesome.

"Today, a young man on acid, realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration. hmm.. well nothing too exciting to report...still trying to escape from the depths of mediocrity.

Im going to try doing more drawing & liferawing in the future, or at least thumbnails. Its addicting to do these little symmetrical characters...but it seems like that isn't the direction I should be pushing myself in right now if I want to produce something marketable.

I suppose I'm going to go back into drawing and landscape/environment painting in the next post with hopes to get more familiar with planes, forms and more precise drafting soon.
