    Cliff Settlement - WIP

Any critique or feed back would be appreciated

This is the first sketch, just scanned and drawn out a little more in PS. I'll post my progress as I complete more.

ok one more before I go to bed

Some specifics I'm looking for input on:
The tower in the top left? Keep it or take it out? I'm undecided.
The color of the sky and atmosphere in general, should I use a more saturated orange? The whole images is very unsaturated, maybe I need to add more color.
I'm having a little problem with the perspective on the bulding at the very bottom right, some input on that would be helpful.

The look I'm going for is very early spring, and I want to put some patches of snow on the ground.

I'd say keep the tower for now, you can easily remove it later.

I encourage a more saturated orange sky, I think it woudl add somethign tot he picture, like a sunset or sunrise feeling, you coule even use it to get some really dynamic shadows going on.

as for the buildings at the bottom, just use those same two vantage points form before at it'll look fine, ATM it does look askew...

I think making it a sunset time would make this piece come alive, and lend it some feeling, because you're right, it does feel a bit dead right now. You could also change the hue of the rocks to something a bit redder, if you think that would help as well.

You seem to have removed the farthest back mountains that appeared in your original sketch, and I think that is also making this piece feel flat, since you've only got horizontal, flat surfaces. Adding some tall mountains could alleviate that. Same with the tower, which I like.

    Keeeeeeeeeeep on trucking.

Hey thanks guys. I've done quite a bit more work on it, I'll post an update when I get home from work

I actually took out the tower and the lower right building cause I was lazy Maybe I'll have time to put them back in. I already added mountains in the background and it did help alot like you said. So, a sunset eh? That's a good idea, I'll see what I can come up with.

Ok, this is what i've got so far. I'm not very happy with the trees, and I'm going to see about replacing the sky/clouds with a sunset.

looks good to me. Just as a suggestion it may be helpful to add "scaley" people to give a sense of scale to various elements in the scene -foreground, middleground, background-trees buildings etc.

This is an excellent piece! Very well done.

    A few quick things though....

First, shadows on the trees. Seeing as how the light source is like in the middle of the page, there should be cast shadows from the trees, which there aren't. In fact, nothing seems to cast any shadows. Might want to work on that.

Second, the addition of some people would be kind of cool. Might be something you want to consider, but you do already have trees for scale, but the human touch is a bit different.

Third, nice job adding the distant mountains back in. I would also suggest adding a few more, since there only seems to be that one big one in the distance. Just a suggestion.

Overall though, this is quite a good piece of work. Well done!
