    Ironman Designs... updated 5/21

    Hey all!

For those who know me from way back, I've been out of the forum scene for quite awhile, bogged down in work and life and all... for God sakes I haven't even updated my website in years! Anyway, I aim to fix that with a new site that's easier to update, but for now I've just put up a blog that hopefully I can leak a few things onto from time to time.

Anyway, I figured the release of Ironman today would be a good day to come out of exile and post some stuff. I spent about a year and a half on the film, doing everything from the suit to sets, props and storyboards. The suit was a fun collaboration between Adi Granov and myself, and I think it turned out pretty amazingly faithful to what we envisioned. The two of us were actively involved in Stan Winston Studios' execution of the design (in the able hands of Shane Mahan and Eddie Yang primarily) every step of the way, so it didn't get lost in translation.

I'll be posting more from the movie (Stark's house, early suit designs, etc..) and other films I've been doing over the years on my blog over the next little while and can post some here if people want, and hopefully Adi will post some of his cool keyframe images as well, as it doesn't look like an "Art of Ironman" is going to be published anytime soon.

So here it is... Enjoy! Hope everyone likes the movie. More info on the images can be found on the blog.

*** Added some of the design sketches for Tony Stark's house (exterior.) I wanted to do something a little looser for these after all of the tight work on the suit!! Of course then came the interiors... More info on the house design on the Blog.

*** Added living room interior renderings.

*** Added bedroom & Stark Jet renderings

BTW - how do you get these to show up as thumbnails rather than these huge images?

    Phil.

Just saw the movie tonight, it was phenomenal. Quite a breath of fresh air as far as the track record of superhero movies is concerned. The suit's design looked so amazing, it was some serious eye candy. Thanks for posting!

really strong work...very clean, pro, and beautifully designed. MB worked on a couple of the iron man games (one which will never come out) and it is awesome to see how the final concepts turned out.

    Thanks for posting and welcome.

Wow, I love the suit understructure.

This is what I love about CA. These big new movies and games and other media come out and everybody raving over them, and then you come to CA and right here are the artists behind the product.

Still yet to see the movie! x.x

I saw the movie yesterday and I have to admit that it surprised me.It´s an awesome movie, fantastic!!!!!I love the Ironman suit,it´s perfect.I hate when people make a movie from a comic and some "brilliant mind" decides to chanche everything about the character´s costumes (in spider-man, they changed the Goblin completly and venom sucked...).But this time,Ironman looks soooooooooooooo realistic!!!I almost prefer this suit better that the original from the latest comics!!!It´s a real machine!!!

great designs. when I was watching the movie, I was thinking to myself...god, someone had to rethink every aspect of that suit...just to make it realistic. I also think you handled the moving (transforming) machinery aspect very well as well. It all looked like it could really work.

    great job.

I also loved the computer interactivity in the movie. It was futuristic..but realistic...and right now I hope half of the stuff gets invented soon.

Nice suit design! Just saw it on wednesday, and sequences where the suit was doing fancy tech things were really nice.
