    A WIP. I'm trying to create a believable face without looking at references. This is to go into my personal portfolio to show to art schools hoping to go to the US. Tell me what you think so far. And oh I'm doing this on my new monitor the Samsung 2693HM I've tried calibrating it to the best of my abilities but Ive ordered a Spyder3 Elite but it aint coming till next week.

    great new stuff. cool to see some drawings! The last portrait looks good so far. The only "crit" might be that the eye is a bit overworked right now but this impression will surely pass as soon as you have worked a bit more on the rest of it.

    some wonderful texture! Very lovely stuff. This might have already been asked, but I assume your using painter.

    If so, I'd love to know which brushes your use. Your brush strokes are very refined.

    Actually I'm using photoshop...I rarely use painter and as for the brushes they're basically the normal photoshop brushes tweaked to my liking. And thanks!!

    Looks great, man. The studies from the first page definitely show in your imagination portrait, he looks very beleivable, and historical.

    I love the style used to find the right skin tones, also great concepts on page 3.

    I dont comment without a critique sooo, I would recommend trying more contrast between objects in the foreground and background so as to make images sharper and more realistic.

    Now this advice is only valid if you are not going for a "dreamy" style where edges are softened.

    Keep up the work, I have yet to start drawing again.

    @anibawl: Haha how flattering!!

    @Haiku: Thanks I try.

    @Androxity: Thank you for the advice. I do try to sometimes higher the contrast betweeen the backrgound and foreground elements but they seem to make the foreground objects stick out too much.

    @MrSmithe: Hehe thank you.

    Brashen, your work is awesome. That step by step on your first page is exactly what I've been searching for. I'm struggling to work out how work away from my line drawings and the way you gradually work out the dark line drawing shows a lot. I'm going to try a drawing using your step by step as reference if that's ok?
