ya gettin' better and better though !
pie+monster+studies = ace²
I really like that last knight!
(but if you take it further, mind the drawing of his shield)
Sorry for the late post but I just wanted to say: You're incredible. Such amazing lines and I love your understanding of anatomy and poses (though at times pretty stiff you do have quite some variety). I just love your nostalgic monster horn thingies. They're really cool. And yea besides that you gut guts. Drawing with pen in a moleskine. Woowhh. I don't think I dare that lol. Anyway thanks for the shitload of inspiration. Cheers
Awesome pencil sketches!
hey man your pencil works are amazing - I agree about the slight stiffness but I definitely am not one to talk about that :p Keep on posting these because they are a pleasure to look through and great for inspiration.
Great sketches, man. Ya never cease to impress. However, seeing that u can render like a madman and u've developed a great understanding of the human body, I'm itching to see some figures in motion. Alright, man, PEACE!
Goog: Thanks so much for the crit man, I really do need to work on my poses, I'm too lazy to get around to it though, I keep saying I'm gonna study, and I keep delaying. I've got a shitty work ethic. Now that the summer is on the way, that doesn't help either.
Victor B: Thanks man, should post more frequently though!
Pixie Trick: Thanks a lot!
Jasper_: Thanks a lot man! I really like drawing faces, hehe.
Mischeviouslittleelf: Takker så meget for både ros og ris, skal jobbe med det!
Hive_minD: Takk takk!
phizpietl: Thanks man, really appreciate it!
LAL: Good to hear, thanks!
SnobbyOo: Haha, thanks a lot mate, we'll see about it!
SouMeng: Thanks! Yeah, the shield looks sort of weird, thanks for stopping by, I really like your stuff.
Malakuko: Thanks a lot!
DANKA: Thanks, glad you think so!
jordyskateboardy: Haha, thanks mate!
saa: Thanks a lot for stopping by, appreciate it!
Jonas Vauth: Thanks a lot!
Silwynar: Well, yeah, mostly Loomis and Bridgeman, and some random stuff, like MMAphotography.com and other sites. Thanks!
ThomasM: Thanks a lot, glad you like them!
Flanagan: We'll see about that, thanks dude!
Well, I went to Berlin, then I had exams, and then I've just been lazy, and hardly done anything, so I thought I'd try my hand at the new ChoW, which seemed rather cool. I've also done a few pencil pieces, but they're not worth showing really, so here's some OC with jordyskateboardy and Lilnebo + the ChoW wip!
Hope you like it, would appreciate some input on the ChoW. (Not quite sure why I stuck to B&W instead of colour on this one really, we'll see how it turns out in the end.)
Cool update. Bit of a change compared to your usual stuff. More movement and fluidity.
For the Chow, you might wanna move the chicks arms to reveal her entire face? and the dragon/creature doesn't work just yet. He's looking at her, yet he isn't on the same as the chick. She's on foreground and the creature's face is on the midground because of the tangent/overlapping hair. As a result he's looking at the wall behind her, which I don't think is very interesting :p
Fuck, you're killing me man, killing me! Totally agree with Wanna though. Regarding the arms: I think the chains should be pulling them back stead of the other way round. Also, the composition doesn't quite work yet, you might want to have some space between the dragon and the girl. Anyhoo, glad to have you back(well, I guess I shouldnt say that as I haven't updated since ages).
lovely pencil updates around here.I love how you stick to your characters, your designs and your attention to rendering and anatomy.I'll just give my unrequested 2 cents as usual, thought
Last time i popped by i "requested" some more variety of subject matter, be it creatures or props, but now that i think of it, it ain't really necessary if your main concern are character designs. But still, tackling new subjects always enriches your visual library and skill set, and that's something you can then apply to anything you draw, be it design elements, patterns, textures, or even anatomy.
You have a very good grasp of human anatomy, and it would be worth it to push on to a new subject to master-otherwise, you're in your comfort zone.
About the characters, if you wanna focus on them, you gotta focus on them.I dig the updates from the previous updates but i liked this one too, most of all cause i see some effort in posing them. When drawing your characters, it seems you draw them only once, working it out as you go, without "exploring" different possibilities, something that imho is crucial to "design" something. Then, there's research.Especially when tackling subjects like knights and space dudes, and killer chicks with elaborate costumes, research cannot do anything but help you.It just takes a really quick googling to see what a medieval pattern looks like, what materials would work on a space suit, what regal clothing in history looked like, and depending on you, you can choose to work from it or just get inspiration from it.In a any case, research helps believability (be it in any element, graphic, form, fuction) and helps the view get that subtle sense of recognition that imho makes it work better.
Then, there's the posing. Many of your characters seem to be standing, leaning on something, holding something, concentrating mostly on looking badass, or not doing anything discernable. Obviously depends on the style you're after, but acting in your characters should still be present imho.
Give them different attitudes, backgrounds and personalities and make sure you explicit them thru expression and posing. If you put effort in planning/thinking out a picture, it WILL show.
I know i probably don't follow my own advice more than often, but i'm just speaking what comes to my mind.
The chow has a very weird topic imho, seems more focused on illustration than design. The painting is coming together well for what i know, but the composition is very "important" in the top part of the paiting while the bottom is very empty and uninteresting, making it a bit unbalanced.About the rest, just make sure you know exactly what is going on and research whenever you're stuck!
Sorry for the fat blob of text
Great stuff. I admire your understanding of anatomy, and how easy you make everything look.
Most of what I wanted to say on the latest CHOW has been said, but I wanted to add in that a change in composition would be good. Right now I find the foreground is not working, and the squarish stone things don't read well or match where she is standing. I do really like the creature's head and the value organization though.
Also, how does the whole OC thing work? I assume it is Open Canvas? How do you draw with other artists like that--is it all at the same time?

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." -- Bruce Lee
Wow, great designs. Love the line work as well.
Nice work on the chow, love the contrasts of value btw the girl and monster!
Thanks for sharing the pen/pencil sketches! Keep on posting!
Wanna: Yeah, I see what you mean, never got back to it though, should probably finish it up, just to have to show for the portfolio. Thanks for the crits!
ChuanMing: Thanks, yeah, as I said I gotta work more on it!
TheGnoll: Thank you so much man, the wall of text is definitely nothing to apologize for. Really appreciate you taking the time and effort to write it, you're right about everything - and you bring up a lot of good points. Thanks again! D:
Jovian M: Thanks man, I'll see what I can do with it! (:
Andrew Sonea: Good points on the composition, it does need to be changed, thanks. Yeah, it's Open Canvas, we're basically connected through a local network (Hamachi) through the internet. Yeah, you can see the other people's drawings appear as they draw it, it's quite neat.
Moosh: Thanks a lot!
Kidult: Thanks man, glad you like it!
kingkostas: Thanks a lot man, will try! D:
Surus: Thanks, I will!
DefiledVisions: Really cool to hear, thanks man, glad you like it! (:
AustenFM: Thanks for stopping by man, really glad you like it. I'll try to update some more than I've been doing, but can't really promise anything, looking at how bad I've been at updating when I've said so before, it should change though.
Thanks a lot for looking everyone, it's appreciated a lot!

i love your sketches as always and i like very much how you blocked the colors in the last one.its very interesting and with great potential.and great anatomy
keep up the great work
awesome updates, buddy. Especially your handling of the ballpoint pen is remarkable again.
I agree with theGnoll it's good to see you spicing up the poses more. the pirate sketches look really good already.
and I liked the start on your Andromeda CHOW. are you gonna finish that for yourself? would love to see more of it.
kingkostas: Really glad you think so man, probably not gonna work more on it, but we'll see, thanks!
Monotony: Thanks man, yeah I might finish it for portfolio purposes.
Krato: Thanks a lot!
Jovian M: Haha, yeah, we'll see about that! ;P
Krato: Thanks for the input, hope it looks a bit better now!
A skeleton faced badass jumping around inside a frame, yay!
It's currently a wip, gotta make the value range go a little lighter, polish some parts more, and maybe add some sort of shadow. At the very least I'm going to add a better cast shadow.
Little update, trying to make it pop some more.
