Hey, um this my sound like a dumb question... so be it but

What pencil do you use to shade your faces? 2h? HB? I use a ticonderoga at school and its too dark. Perhaps you will comment in time before i find out myself.

If your still reading this, what are some key places to shade, i see that the eyes, upper lip, cheekbone thingy majig seem to be the place. missing anything?

yep yep dumb questions, idc >:L

krato I use HB lead. the "key places" to shade depends entirely on where the light is coming from and how strong it's hitting the surface. i really like my light from up top, so the brow, nose and cheekbone thing is definitely something seen a lot in my drawings.
i know nothing, can't really do much to teach you, but i know some pencil studying from life can. D:

uh, went to the thursday workshop at art center yesterday. god my hatching is so uncontrolled and idiotic.

Anyway why are the poses from the workshop so quick looking? Was it 20 second poses?

Such great improvement is really inspiring!

Keep up the great work; I really love seeing your sketchbook pages.
Also, as my two cents: keep studying anatomy, such as the bones and muscles under the skin. Develop a good understanding of the underlying parts and your work will improve even more (though you know all this, I'm just reinforcing the idea : ] )
