    Female Manga (Semi-warning: Nude Clay)

First humanoid character - A lot of things to practice....
I decided to try practicing the female body, combined with a great wish for understanding the Manga drawing style (where the beauty of the characters have eluded me for years). Finally I needed to practice skin-painting with my airbrush.
The material is Sculpey Firm, painted with Games Workshop and Vallejo colours. She is roughly 6" high.
Her stance is taken from the Philipino ESCRIMA style, although I dont remember anyone training in a dress like that.
I decided to stick with a picture from "How to draw Manga" from Graphic-SHA - called an average body.

Having laid down the foundation of the paint, I realised how urgent I need to practice my "smoothing of the clay"-skills as well. So I sanded her down until the worst errors was gone.

I there anybody out there with an idea (or even experience) on how to make better hair (and what materials to use)?

She has a lot of flaws, but so had my first girlfriend. I guess it is a question of experience. ;-)

    Thanks mick (the),
I got that particular base from Andrea Miniatures in Spain - or you can try this company: http://www.woodenbases.co.uk/. I have yet to see something sold especially for miniatures or sculpting which is cheap ;-)
You are of course right about her facial expression - or lack of same. I guess I am back to practicing faces for a while....

Pretty cool sculpture man. If you want some honest critique, I think there are some anatomy issues that need to be addressed. I too am struggling with anatomy, so I'm right there with you friend. Keep at it. Never stop.

Yes Artastic - that d..... anatomy.
I dont think this anatomy thing is here to stay ;-)
I am planning to do a male torso soon - for the sake of practise - And some more heads.
Did I hear you say we should do a Torso-tread where all the anatomy-challenged people in here could do a few torsoes - and support each other?
I loved the Medusa-challenge, but found it to be out of my league.

    You're welcome.
You can try Andrea miniatures as well:

Very similar bases - same dimensions. Roughly same prices.
