I Need Your Help to Make Some BIG ART - San Francisco Bay Area, Sat. June 7, 2008

"Artist's visions are a dime a dozen (that's less than a penny per), it's really if you can do something with them that counts."

Hi, I need some help creating a big chalk drawing. I had a vision back in 2003, to make the world's largest chalk drawing as a way to put awareness and funds into the local schools where there are NO ART TEACHERS.

So... it's now happening. We hit the ground drawing on Tues. May 27 in Alameda CA (near Oakland), and our ending day/ceremony is on Sat. June 7th. We have 90,000 sq. ft. to color in, that almost two football fields. It will be big enough to break the Guinness World Record and we are getting a SATELLITE photograph of the artwork (photo to be taken at 11:20 am on June 7).

We have presented the project to 10 elementary schools and will be busing out kids over the two weeks to help us draw. Middle and high school kids, and the greater San Francisco Bay Area community will be coming out, during the day, after school and into the evening (we'll be there until dusk) and on the first weekend. Everyone is invited!

I'm inviting you to come draw with us over the two week and on the last day. If you live in the area, please come draw with us/me and bring a friend or two.

We are working on keeping the Arts Alive. Many us of here at Concept Art were fortunate enough to be supported with the arts as kids and here we are to prove it. This is a way for me to give back to the community and to the world.

"Edutopia", the George Lucas Education Foundation magazine did a great article on us. www.edutopia.org/chalk-drawing

    New Poster & Postcards:

We are also seeking donations to the project. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit. For each dollar we will color in a square for you. You can use PAYPAL. Here's the connection if you feel moved. www.reenchantingtheworldthroughart.org/donatekidsart.html

Make sure you come find me and say hi!

    ~Mark

Wait a sec Mark, that was YOU that I met at Mac World? Oh, how small the world is! Unfortunately I will be in Minneapolis that weekend for a wedding, otherwise I would have loved to contribute. Take lots of pics and post them here!

    Cool project

Anything to help put teachers back in the classroom. I'll be in Fremont on the 28th, so I'll definitely stop by and chalk it up with the kids for a few hours.
    Keep up the good work

    That's an absolutely awsome idea!

I'm unfortunately in a whole different part of the world, but I'd love to see the kids and the colours and the drawings... and.. and... Post pictures!

I might have to steal the idea of chalk drawing in a small scale for the local school here when we're doing some "enrichen your community" or whatever it's called, hehe.
