Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
[ This ambush predator is not meant to just be a spider. ]
[ It's some freaky alien creature with spider-like qualities. ]
[ It's probably about the size of a small or medium dog, although it's leg-span might be larger. ]
Creature: FREAKY ALIEN "TREE SPIDER" WAITS FOR PREY TO WALK BELOW
crits please! might have time to take this a bit further. thanks
ah havent done one of these for a while - been busy.
took too long, hour and a half (just over that now actually now ive uploaded it etc.)
it was somehow cathartic to do though..
haha, just realised ive compleetely masked the fact that its supposed to be in low branches ready to pounce - it looks like its sat in a bush. damn! naver mind! I'll get it next time.
Spend an hour trying to speed paint this critter. It lurks among the moss covered trees, legs blending into the surroundings, waiting for prey to wander beneath.
- Ryoken, the Brown Speckled Dragon
15 minutes but no tree.
A quick one
I'm not happy with this, but I don't have a better idea, so I'll leave it as it is...
I tried to speed paint it and keep it to 1.5 hours. Needs more alien though.
might still do more work on this.
Edit: Done, Ive spent about three hours on and off. Favourite one (of mine) so far.

ExiledRed - The perspective works, but the colors kinda mess it up. Its just too much of the same color, random details just adds to the confusion and the tree simply doesnt read (looks more like a road). The idear works tho.
Scumworks, thanks for the crit.
I was actually working on the tree when I hit three hours and felt I should stop to keep it a 'sketch' project.
I didnt like the severity of the beasts shadow either,
anyway I went back to fixing up the tree, just for you (see edit) but I can't help thinking I've lost atmosphere in the process.
what you think?
ExiledRed - Looks better, much easier to understand the picture. "atmosphere" doesnt meen much if I cant tell what im looking at ^^.
I remember reading an article about a species of spider that lives in South America that is very nomadic and does not spin webs. Instead it instantly dismembers its victim after killing it. What it does not eat it attaches onto its body and carries it around for later.
Here is the alien creature. I tried making it smaller - to the size of a medium dog, but it didn't work right.
Another hiker comes along to become another meal.
hey guys long time no see.
good to see all the new faces, and some old ones. some pretty neat stuff popping up.
Made this in two parts. Design spider first then made the scene.
my third Photoshop picture... well, I've struggled with the angle and the tree very much, but it just couldn't work. I think I need some very basic studies
and I think my drawing needs some highlights, it's too flat.
