A few sculpts - warm up from an 8 year break

    just some fun little projects

Alice in wonderland caterpillar, ET, and a fairy that I posted here a few months ago that I've finally got around to trying to finish up.

The caterpillar acts as an incense burner, smoke escapes from his mouth and hookah as seen in the third pic. He needs a little touching up with some paint.

The ET was a quick 2hr gift for the girlfriend

The fairy has taken me far too long. I finally got around to finishing it up because I want to start on a bigger project. I posted pics of her a long time ago and got blasted for anatomical problems. I know there are still many problems with her but I really just want to finish her up and move on (ignore the burned tip of her nose). This is my first sculpt in probably 8 years and my second or third serious attempt ever, so I'm not too hung up over it and am chalking it up to practice. She is only about 6 inches tall and has been quite the challenge for me while getting back into the swing of things.

I forgot to add that she is not baked yet. I plan on some basic painting and have some good material lined up for hair. From the last pic I realized I must have forced her head upwards while working on the neck. Here is a pic after the fix

This is going to sound weird, but...

Did you use REAL dragonfly wings? I would have never thought to do that. Cool stuff.

Again, I never would have given that a thought. Which tells me these are small pieces. I'm always in awe of folks who can work small. My eyes give me fits working on small stuff.

    Kudos to you!

Good to have you back in the sculpting fold.

Great job! I am thinking that the Faerie anatomy is not supposed to be 100% accurate human anatomy, but rather a blend of human and insectoid.

Very promising for someone who has taken an 8 year break. Keep up the good work.

    Nice haaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnddddddddddssssssssss!
