    Sketchbox

I only draw with pencil on paper for the time being,so I apologize for the poor quality of some pics,I can't get them to look much better because of my stupid scanner. They look better in real life on paper, trust me. :p

Anyway,I'd really appreciate the comments about what's good, what's bad and what's ugly. Thanks

    Hey there!

There's some interesting stuff here. Tell me, are you wanting to continue with the cartoon style or are you aiming for a more lifelike style?

Your cartoon stuff is good. Your still life stuff isn't too bad, but if you want to try realism, then as with anything, practice practice practice. Studies of the human form are always good places to start.

    Post more!

    Hey there to you too

    Thanks

I'm aiming for both actually, but I'm aiming more for the realistic drawing style, just that for the time being, proportion is a pretty big problem I have. And perspective, and shading and...well...you get my point
I've been doodling and fooling around for a long time, but I only started taking it seriously about 3 weeks ago,so I'm taking it one step at a time,I guess.

I have lots of energy, but I just use it to sleep.

Great stuff so far, as said to improve on your realistic style, just keep practicing anatomy (Then again, who doesn't? )

Ummm, I love the stylized apple in the "5 Chinese Ink Painting" I dunno why I just feel it's visually appealing.

Can't really comment on the cartoony/anime style mainly cause I have no real experience with it, and with cartooning there are so many different styles it's basically 1 per person. So keep developing yours. Looking forward to more.

    Thanks Infernus
About the apple, strangely enough,I seem to be very good at simplifying things rather than complicating them so they'd look real(hard to believe eh? )

Anyway here's something I did yesterday, but couldn't post because I had some trouble with my ISP.It's from "Anatomy for the artist" by Sarah Simblet.I used one of the images of the skull in there as a point of reference.

your work is constantly improving. my suggestions is work on proportions but never lose the sense of fun you have in your work. nothing is more demoralizing than when art becomes a chore. keep posting

I decided to crit another fellow beginner's sketchbook well, my scanner is at least as bad as yours

I see you made some studies about the human head. but at your fairy head you did again your (and many beginner's) mistake... a human head is far bigger to the back... look at your side view head studies...
well, it will be a long way, keep practicing! (and don't dare ever draw an ugly version of the great and georgous Grimmjow-sama, because I won't forgive you just kiddin'... the one you've posted is not so bad)

sorry for my English, it isn't enough for refined thoughts yet.

LoL I would never Grimmjow rulz (good to see someone who's into Bleach)

As for the fairy...Yeah...I know,I said it in the DSG thread already, the head sucks, cuz I lost my patience and I wanted to draw it very fast just to prove to myself I can do it (and it shows, unfortunately).
I'll keep on practicing, like everyone else here, and we'll see what happens from there on

    Thanks for your comment
