The Kinderwulfe originates in early 1600's Bavarian legend. It is a shape shifter that takes the form of the most gentle of creatures, small children. With its innocent appearance it can lure any victim it desires, dragging its prey into the depths of the forest. Many children are found, torn to shreds or devoured; some are never found and it is thought that the Kinderwulfe serve as hounds for an even more dangerous creature.
The Kinderwulfe in its actual form is a terrifying sight to behold. It's hunched and lanky body is covered in putrid, dead grey skin. Patches of coarse, mangy fur cover its body. Metal bands peel back its maw to reveal razor sharp theeth, giving the creature a hiddeous grin. Few have actually seen the monster in its true form and lived. Survivors are driven mad with fear, screaming about the children with evil eyes and sharp claws coming for them.
It is difficult to tell the difference between a regular child and a Kinderwulfe in its child form. One noticeable difference is the presence of an odd metallic headpiece it wears on its head. Sadly many innocent children have fallen victim to angry villagers, mistaking a pretty hairpiece in a little girl's hair for the sign of a Kinderwulfe.

Geordy Herrmann, a famous gardener renowned for his prized petunias, found his entire flower patch completely ruined one morning. What the devastated Mr. Herrmann did not know was that he himself transforms into a giant slug on the occasional thursday night only to devour his own flowers.
How or why the transformation occurs is still unknown, but it has been told that Mr. Herrmann has started to avoid the local french restaurants.

Alrighty. Here's my entry, my shapeshifter turns into trees. It's a genetic thing, passed down through girls and they can only turn into a specific tree. So I don't know if this fits the concept enough or not, but might as well give it a shot.

Every night, the princess sneaks out to the pond in the garden to be with her true love- Not some prince or knight, but a simple Goldfish. She transforms into a goldfish herself to be with him, and each morning she is more and more reluctant to become human again.

"When the time comes he travels to an outskirt in a pensive mood.
Although anxiety overcomes him as he nears his destination.
How many lives will he take this time? What if they find him?
At least it wouldn't be as that time in the city. They almost got him that time...
In the mist somewhere far from civilisation (well maybe not that far), The "palustris vorare" dwells.
At least 6 months a year that is to say. The other 6 months he lives a normal life... so far.
Last thing I heard they were planning a golf course near the swamp.
Well, we will see how that works out."

Prisoners of death in the Great Wing. For their freedom, the man and the creature became the shadow of the other. Now they have the power of two in one and the ability to switch to his other self, the prison couldnt hold them anymore.
The disadvantage of this power is which both their lifespan are halved to become one.

so here's my take on it... so this is a monkey shapeshifter... I'm thinking as a living environment as a jungle at maya or inka times...
this character shifts into monkey for better agility and speed. it gives ability to climb up in the high trees better and hunt animals more efficiently. also in clan wars it's really handy !
drew this on wendsday only day when i had time for my personal needs... went to coffeehouse and sketched this out time 2-3h and with photoshop tweaks +40min
I'm sorry i didn't include the shifted form... :< no time ...but i'll count on that you can imagine monkey with those equipment... ^^

Leo Lepidus, professionally known as the Amazing Disappearing Leopold, became notorious for one of the more unique illusion acts of the early 20th century. Rather than making the rabbit disappear, he developed a trick wherein he was sealed in a covered box and was able to make himself disappear with a rabbit reappearing in his place. Few could have guessed that Leopold had actually managed to transform himself into the rabbit, and the illusion became one of the most celebrated of its day, in part due to the rapid duration of the transformation.
Unfortunately, as fate would have it, Leopold discovered one night that he was unable to shift back to human form. The disappearance prompted a widespread investigation by the authorities and those revered in the magic community, the majority of which proclaimed that the entire disappearance had been a hoax or publicity stunt. However, no further sightings of Leopold were reported, and the entire inventory of his illusions was acquired by the the circuit's booking agents, who hoped to sell off the items in an attempt to recoup their losses once it was clear that Leopold had vanished.
According to the theatre management where the final performance took place, the only witness to the disappearance, the rabbit, had been "taken home by one of the wardrobe women and made into a fine stew."
Requiescat in pace, Leopold...

...He doesn't like the changes. They always hurt. Really bad. he doesn't know why he changes, but all he can do is watch and feel as his body is taken over by a beast, ravaging around his home and town to kill...
I did not get a chance to do anything remotely approaching a background. :/

When the Snake Woman desires companionship (or when she gets hungry) she kills a young girl and takes on her likeness. She will get close to the girls family and friends, living her life until it no longer amuses her- at which point she will devour everyone close to her and shed her disguise. She will then return to the swamps and forests until the whim once again strikes her to walk in human form. The only way to defend against her is to watch carefully for her reflection because it will always betray her true nature.

octopi can blend into their surroundings, tanking on the coloring of the rock a round them. would the next stage in evoution include shape shifting?
Shaman are mean of the elements. taking on the form of living things around them. living close to the ocean gives a chance to bond with sea creatures.
you decide, tho to me both ideas are interesting.
Its like i have come home, only i hate being at home so by association i hate you.

Since shapeshifters are mentioned in history, there have always been tales and myths of little kids with the ability to transform into kitten. No-one ever saw one of these so-called Pussy-Kids, only the mystically dissappearance of plagues of mice raised suspicion here and there.

My First ChOW that almost didn't happen
Titanus is an Ice dragon, a very old one. Unlike most dragons he actually prefers his human form, travelling with his companions - the Dwarf H'gar of the IronHammer Clan and the elf bard Llwen. Together the three of them formed a friendship so great each considered the other a brother.
titanus and his brothers retraced the steps the Elderly Dragon's Ancestors trod when they fled their mountain homesand walked to the depths of the sea. The Dragon War took a terrible toll on the clan, but to honor their forefather's memory when the time of their Death is made known to them, each dragon leave the sanctuary of their underwater home and makes their way to The First Nest.
Sadly Titanus never made it to his journey's end. Too many sidetracks and misadventures (though enjoyable ones) meant that he was but a day's travel from his goal. Yet as his body dissovled into the pure magicks which make up all beings he fused part of his essence into H'gar's hammer and Llwen's lute - so that he would always be with them.
P.S sorry about the late submittion - I had problems with my password yesterday

I was inspired by the poem “To Althea from prison” below is the ending.
Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage;
Minds innocent and quiet take
That for an hermitage;
If I have freedom in my love
And in my soul am free,
Angels alone, that soar above,
Enjoy such liberty.
Through the will of one thousands dead prisoners who where unjustly imprisoned by ancient civilizations, this tortured young lady was given the ability to shape shift into a swarm of 1000 Butterflies. Never again will simple bars confine her.
