Jeff! You can use the attachments to put up as many images as you like, not just a few at a time! (There is a button that says "Edit", it allows you to go back and change the contents of your post, including attachments!)

a still life. its not that recent, probably a few weeks ago, but im not sure how long it took me. good ol' 360. too bad i dont play the thing often. well, when im not sketching because i lack confidence, i would be playing it. but i would call it inspiration research. lol

    egh. heres some stuff.

I have no time anymore. my school gets out at 4:30 and i get home around 5:30. on top of that sometimes i have to cook dinner and i always have to do chores. and if im not at home or at school im working. grrr. c'mon summer time! anyway, here is some effort at improvement. I wanted to see if i could create characters strictly from imagination and demonstrate how well i can apply my memory of anatomy without reference. totally from head. i dont really like these characters anymore. but i have to say very fun to create. i was going for a "gaurd" or soldier concept. the other in the stance was supposed to be an apprentice for a sorceror of some kind. he is using magic to make his arm bigger. i kow weird. but fun. looking for some direction. what do i need to study?

grrr. the old selfportrait. im never satisfied. boohoohoo. it never is good enough! its going to take some work. i have a bunch to learn. which is why i should be getting a self portrait at least every other day. im going to try to study my face everynight. anything incredibly obvious about this that i could improve on? The quality is so much better in real life. I dont know how to make it better. 300dpi. but then i compact it into PS to fit it in ths thread.

    digi peice!

This is for a project in graphics that i really didnt enjoy doing. it is supposed to be a cave painting of a significant event in my life. But it did help me understand steps in the process of finishing final peices. this peice didnt take that long, probably longer than it shouldve taken. comments. crits if you like.

getting back into art...man. i have been soo unproductive because of...everything!

trying to start my habits again. im thinking about studying lighting and form in different values to grasp the acual 3D form of what im trying to illustrate. it has been a long day. i sat in my graphics class today and became incredbley depressed about my self confidence. it was totaly out the window because of so many downers this past month. i realized that i havent produced anything in such a long time and that i was just wasting my life trying to learn something that im probably never realy going to become great at. well i cant imagine art not influencing me throughout my life. school, work, and anything else that can build typical teen anxed has been preventing me from doing what i love.
this is just a quick sketch from my head. just wanted to mess around with lighting and basic ideas. blah blah blah.
    enjoy.

ok, so here is a bunch of quick sketches. this is really old work but i thought updating my SB with all of these would help me update with more recent stuff more often. note that most of these sketchesare done quickly. more fully rendered stuff will come soon. having a lot of trouble with the size of these images. grr

thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. keep improving your lines. they have a good confidence about them already and are heading in the right direction. keep pushing those dark values in your b&w's and smooth–out some of your lines. that should be your focus until you enter a good art school. i'm sure you'll want to improve your colors as well, so my advice would be to invest in a couple of the tutorials offered on the ca website.

uf? yeah, its good exercise. its tough waking up early on saturday mornings but its worth it. i'm moving out of florida in a few weeks to get my masters degree, so i'll have to find something out there to keep up my exercise.

    ps. take your sketchbook everywhere.

    from life...oohh life...

ok, here are some sketches from life. i have noticed that i can be careless and lazy when i think of a qucik sketch. i need to quit this habit. its like im just assuming beforehand that the only purpose of a quick sketch is the speed. i need to not take more time but just more interest and actually care for the subject of the sketch. i was reading today about reflected light and i decided to do these quick thumbnails. i learned something about getting in reflective detail in metal...i used only a 5B on these. as for the hands mech. pencil and the other is obviously pen. i really want to break my lazyness habit. i was planning on playing the xbox for the rest of the night but im considering otherwise...feel more determined to show better quality work now...

ok, this was a better quality study. i really took my time. im taking forever on this but i think it will be worth it. this is from life, i am looking into a mirror beside my desktop, and im painting right into PS with my tablet. i never used the eyedrop either. purely using my own picking in the color wheels. i also learned that fliping the canvas different ways releived my perception of that one view point and gave me another angle to crit it from. i was reading about how light affects skin tone. alot of saturation principles, trying to work with it but i need some help, if someone could let me know which direction i should head from here, that would be great.

Jump to colors when you've mastered values. Do value paintings if you feel confident enough about your knowledge of forms. Keep it up buddy
