Its' free and it takes less than 10 seconds!
This round is a little more open than the last few. The guidelines are thus:
1 human form, male or female,
and 1 shape-shifted form, either an animal, creature, monster, ect. (For example, a werewolf = human to wolf monster, or a selkie = woman to a seal, etc.)
This is an illustrative ChOW, but you've got freedom with how you decide to give your character story. We should be able to tell that there is more to them than just being able to turn into something else - give them a time period, a home, a reason for existing. Both forms must be in some way shown in the image.
You're very welcome to write a little side story to go along with your image, but we encourage you to make your illustration readable enough to not need it!
FOLLOW THE TOPIC.
POST YOUR FINAL IN THE FINAL BURNING THREAD.
SAVE YOUR FILES IN THE FOLLOWING FORMAT. Chow##_Nickname
PLACE THE IMAGE IN A FRAME WITH YOUR NAME/TOPIC
(you can add CA logo, etc).
SUNDAY, April 13th, 2008
The way the deadline works: if deadline is on a Sunday and your image is posted on that Sunday 23:59 your local time it's a good entry.
In fact - as long there is Sunday somewhere on the planet your entry is ok. I will make the poll sometimes Monday evening my time (GMT - 8 ) yet I'll have a look at the last entries.
POST YOUR FINALS IN THE FINAL BURNING THREAD!
Remember to include your nickname in the filename.
About quality - as general rule: if your shapes and values are not decent - you are out. Watch proportions, perspective etc. we need perfectly readable shapes and coherent, consistent values.
BE PROFESSIONAL - only finished and good quality entries will be taken to the poll. Oregano and Daestwen (yay!) will make the selection.

Woah, this sounds like a challenge. Nice one.
can the shapeshifter shape him or herself into oter humans aswell?
Ohhh I'll need to give this some thought. Does it have to be shape shifters from mythology or can we make up our own?
Neatness!! Great topic! (and tough as well, as most open topics are)
No - animal, creature, monster, ect. It can be humanoid, but not another human.Originally Posted by stoni clifton
Edit: This is daestwen. No, you don't need two, though you *could* do two. But if you carefully read the brief, it says "Both forms must be in some way shown in the image." Sorry if I confused anybody! I just meant that the character must have two forms, not that you need two images!Originally Posted by flamable

Any tips about how to create a decent background? This is my failing point... criticism for either figure is also very welcome.
Nice start there Sir Bret although I would be tempted to show the relationship between the animal form and his human form. Carrying some traits over can really help

*tries to think of a way of it NOT being too similar to the T'lan Imass Bonecasters*
Undead shapeshifting into animals is just *too* awsome... *lol*

VEry nice this topic!!!!i hope to have the time to feed in it!!!!!
My first concept. I wanted something thats horrendous to shift into something sweet and innocent. Augh I have a feeling this is going to be tough! I'm trying to figure out where to put the similarities between the two. MY best bet might be doing that when it gets to the coloring. this is tricky..
Form of ... a bucket of water!
candyjanney- cool idea! You're right though, right now it's not really clear that the little girl actually turns into the monster. Maybe if the monster form was still wearing the frilly little dress? I don't know if that would screw up the mood or the tone you're going for though (slightly playful? seriously creepy? somewhere in between?)
Sundance- lol I would vote for that.
Sir Bret- yeah before worrying about a background I would definitely focus more on the figure and how to make it more clear that he turns into the bird. Maybe bringing some feather type elements into his design somehow?
This is an awesome topic, and I can't wait to see everyones finals! (I will try to enter too if i don't chicken out lol)

My current WIP, a woman turning into a stork. I'm not sure if I'm going to finish it up tho. Any advice would be very welcome.

Maaiker wow great morph steps!!! i love the legs!!!
Good start,Windsrock - what you could do is perhaps make the woman have a more feral expression, as well as the tiger. This would show their relation in more than just tribal culture. I love the idea, best I've seen so far.
IM IN!!! Ive got a good idea for this one, never managed to get a complete one done so yeah... YEAH!
maaiker looking good so far, and i love how you've even demonstrated how the actual morph could work. its a pity the multiple phases of the morph, in the way you have decide to show wasnt one of the main rules to start with.
As the rules stand now, i feel this weeks chow, the subject will not get pushed as much as it could have.
Basically, I just didn't want a whole smack-load of 'Animorph' book covers.
