I think this looks pretty cool.

I noticed this mod too a long long time ago. And what got my attention for this mod was actually Ukitakumuki's DeviantArt account (http://ukitakumuki.deviantart.com/), I just love his sci-fi art. It's really that kind of SF-designs I love and all. So I just had to check the mod out. But I haven't really seen much development from them, seems like many anticipated HL2 mods are dying slowly~.
    Arr, yarr...!

Which is pretty sad. I'll start one someday, but by then I might have to do it for HL3.

Yeah that's a big problem. With all the nice detail and complex gameplay that most people anticipate from a mod, development times become overly long and eventually the mod dies… At least if it isn't sponsored by a commercial producer.

Perhaps it would be better to release details when the game is 90% done.

That doesn't work either in most cases because without exposition even the greatest ideas die inside their cages. The best idea so far is to start small and build up on it with a ton of releases a year. Worked great with Deathball for UT2k4, they've build a strong fanbase. Games get worse every year, so no wonder that mods aren't as successful as they were some years ago. Peer demographics have changed and most people playing aren't hardcore gamers anymore. They don't want mods, they want finished games. Doesn't work.
