Big thanx to davi & Mike Corriero who came up with this cool idea in Ventrilo Chat!!!

    ADDITIONAL INFO

    1. This is a special round. There is no written topic. Listen to the sound file to hear what noises the creature makes and come up with a nice creature design and concept based on the sounds.

    2. No individual/character!!! Make a concept of a species!

Click here to listen to the CREATURE SOUND

    Enjoy!

Great idea! Already have a sketch for it.
It's kind of an aquatic-primate. The noise comes from sacks in his neck/chest that inflate. He either vibrates them in the water to make the smaller noises or hoots out of the water to make the larger noises.
The only thing I need to work on is not making the sacks look like big hooters when he's floating in the water.

    Wow, cool!

Altough, I cannot imagine an offtopic creature that you could disqualify this time

if you do a design of a lava, desert, ice creature i think that might be cause of disqualification...

davi this sound has got loads of flanger on it. I cant think of anything that would naturally make a noise in a swamp like that. Sounds submerged deffinately because of the water/backing noise etc. The middle sound has far more repititon of an accent and the pronounciation is far cleaner, its makes the rest of the noises seem relitively in audiable. The animal seems well active as it seems to move forward and away from the recorder very quickly, its like the hyperactive round. Im not convinced its a realistic sound, possible something dying maybe.

Great topic and great idea, Im just bummed cos Im stumped already.

EDIT: seems like im bitter cos the idea isnt there, once again great idea.

I swore that I'd try and submit something for the next C.O.W., but this one is sounding rather difficult. Hope I can think of something.

Haha.. NICE! Davi.. you're a cooky guy, great sounds. I'm glad we didn't start off with a large "roaring scary belch" of this creature sound test topic. Did I say this would probably be a hit..? yea I think there will be a lot of participants in this round. I can see this being a special week popping up here and there, depending on how this week takes off.

UCT, just take it for what it is
I wish we had a professional sound effects guy lol, but this is low budget/no budget stuff lol. I'm sure you'll come up with something, the creatures sound and the background environment gives more than enough information to conceive something believable to go along with the idea.

Fozzy thanks for going along with this and setting the topic up. Davi, thanks for the sound file and you're talented mouth..I mean..voice

...and you needed 113 rounds of cow to come up with this brilliant idea? damn!
    but reeeeally cool!

It´s just that the background noise makes it hard to think of something thats NOT living in a djungle, unfortunately....!

You should do this again some time, its awesome!

Shit, I had worked up a sketch a while ago that looks kind of similar to this and it popped in my head when I heard the sound file. I was going to produce something similar to my older concept. I guess I'll just move on with it, the final tends to always turn out quite different anyway.

Your sketch is looking good btw.

I'll try to participate, seem's interesting. Still dont know if i should go for a lizzard- or a bird-like creature... probably both in one.
Nice sound, I'm really curious about how you made it... does this background sound comes from a game ? (no, I'm not addicted to wow... Am I ?)

Sorry Davi & Mike, didnt want to seem super critical of your input, its a great idea. Struggling with it though.

Any crits? idea is that the 'laughing' toad, jumps straight out of the swamp and as it come back down to hit the water surface it lets the inards of its green sacks trail behind them, when they hit the water they make the mating sound (which is what we heard). Will have to do an explanetry drawing aswell etc.

I keep thinking that sounds like something from a Zelda game in a lil fast forwarded way.
I'm new here. Thinking about trying my hand at COW. =D This is really an amazing challenge idea!

Sounds like my 6-day old daughter instructing a family of crickets on how to prepare a banquet of pancakes. I think I'm in.

I've decided to make it my cellular's ringing tone. I hope to get inspiration from there or else die from insanity. This topic is very interesting, I must make an effort as I just signed up for cgsociety challenge. But I think it is worth it. This last week was spectacular, we'll see what comes up with this one.
