    ~~~~~ OYO 's Flight of Fancies ( Updated Yesterday P2 ) ~~~~~
    Hi everyone. It's been a while i've been away from forums, working my ass off to improve my skills and develop my own style.
    As I just finished to my contracts with an australian video game company, am only busy with a lecturer job in a private university in Sydney. Sooooo that leaves me a lot of free time. Consequently I decided to work and study and paint 10 hrs per day at the moment 5 days a week (including w.e).
    If I listen to all those pro people that says it's all about practice and fun, I should improve...
    It's also a way to keep trace of my journey through art and all that. It's always funny to go back to your first painting and laugh sometimes.
    So at the moment, am working a lot on anatomy, gestures, character design and costumes, starting slowly enviro.
    Feel free to make crits ands comments.
    Since 2 weeks, I found a wonderful way to get out of my bed, I do a 15-30 min speed portrait. why i havent start to do that before... No stress, no pressure, just expressing myself on whatever cross my mind at this moment. It really always give me so lots of energy for the rest of the day.
    I also select a brush randomly, eyes closed.
    So here are some of these speedies :
    Here are the beginning of a serie based on 3 colours, white, red and black a little bit more time spent on theses ones, 45 min :
    And here some of the pencil works I ve done recently tryig to get better at anatomy, costumes, gestures, rendering. each of them took me around 90min.
    oooh nice new sketchbook....really like the idea of a speedy every morning!...The legs of the guy with his arms out look a little short, not sure if thats just me favouring longer legs though. The left most knuckle (as we see it) of the 3 head character falls too low compaired with the others (should be a gentle curve, but is more of a curve with the 1st 3 then a drop. Keep on at the anatomy-I'm also in need of putting more work in with that, these are looking great-really dig the style
    Bonjour bonjour
    Daveneale : Thanks for the crits. Yea true the legs looks short maybe because the arms are quite long too. And yea the hands of the monster are very bad, need to practice more hand studies !! Yea you should keep it up with the anatomy stuff, you loose it so fast if you dont. Though great stuff in your sketchbook man, i like the cartoony stuff at the beginning and at the end. It seems somebody is studying dysney style ...
    Flaskspot : Thanks.
    So today I come back with a few more morning speed portraits :
    I re read the Age of Apocalypse recently ( which is definitly my best xmen saga ) and i absolutely love the design of cyclop and the one handed wolvie between others ... so i start an random painting the other day that end up being my alternative design of Scott Summer with the hand chopped by wolvie ( for thus who knows the story) and replaced by plasma armguns of doom.
    and to conclude, my first attempt since a loooog time to pencil a scifi character with all the tecnologic details that its involved. As a huge fan of back to the future 2, I always dreamt as a kid that the future will be full of flyings cars and kids with hoverboards. Well, it seems it s not gonna happen soon, so i decide to solve the problem by creating my own ! So here is my Hoverboard Reckon Unit. Tadaaaaa !
    I had a lot of difficulties with the perspespective and the engine details. I still think there are mistakes but my knowledge is too limited for now to point them out. I need to study more this kind of stuff !
    Am planning to do a front and back view and also an action shot soon.
    The second one is an attempt of a heavygunner character focused on the weapon design.
    That's all folks ! Enjoy !
    Y.
    LOL i actually had a dream like a while ago where there was a similar gun to the one your heavy gunner is holding ^^
    your sketches are great, might work on fleshing out and refining some more edges on your paintings.
    Bonjour bonjour !
    Camara, Daniel, chrisly, flamable, metal mike, ekoes : Thanks dudes I appreciate the words.
    Hp : Really ? What where you doin with such a dangerous toy in ur dream ?
    My knowledge is still too limited in painting for now to push more for now.
    Vyliss : Hehe yea it seems for australians am a good cook but really.. am far from being a chef ! I dont know any recipes, am more experimental when it comes to cuisine. Really nice progression on your sketchbook, looking forward to see more !
    So today again more morning speedies :
    Here is one started as a speedie and ended up as a more finished piece. So let me introduce Antonio the Frog Eater. (of course)
    And my first landscape painting since... well I cant even remember so it's about time
    Title : Songe d'une nuit de printemps ( sorry there is no translation to this, you ll have to learn french :p )
    You may have noticed that am using only red black and white in my works at the moment, I can't explain it, I just like to work with them a lot at the moment.
    Unfortunately, the colors appears different, faded, desaturated on Firefox , I dont know why, I tried every settings possible in PS but still I can't find a way to make my colors the same on my PS and internet. Am using a Mac btw. So if somebody experienced that before and solved the problem, please help me ! It's so frustrating !
    Cheers,
    Y.
    i know Macs are brighter than PCs usually in their default displays but that doesn't explain the diff in PS and internet...unless it has something to do with rgb/cmyk?
    your last environ looks great and so does the first girl in your speedies. keep it up ^^
    hey oyo! i agree with HP your last environment painting is excellent, i love the silhouettes in the foreground you really convinced me with realism and fantasy. theres not much critiquing for me to say. Its a bit hard to nitpick a sketchbook >< well anyways nice textures with pencil and digital i'm enjoying this sketchbook and i'm sure i'll be coming here again!
    Just draw your ass off. Whatever you do, don't -- stop -- drawing...
    Hola muchachos !
    Hp : Yea it's true but it's not about hte brightness, its really about the color saturation and levels. The thing is when I show the proof colors in PS set on monitor rgb, that's when i got that, so it means that maybe the colors change only on my screen and you guys see the right stuff. I was wondering what rgb profile are you using ?
    Mearick : Thanks ! Am glad you like that scene and the little story in it, makes me want to do more !
    Kroger : Hey rastamaann ! Thanks bro glad you like what you see ! So when are you comin to do some walls in my backyard ? I ve got plenty of ugly white walls to cover
    //
    So today just a quick update (its saturday and sunny outside so time connect with the world) with a new character design I finished few days ago, am also testing a presentation template done with IS, so if I could have some feedback on this, would be much appreciated !
    Enjoy !
    Y.
    looks great and original, only thing is i might take out the crown above her head. it seems kind of overused nowadays and not really necessary for the picture. just a personal opinion ^^
    HP : thanks. Really ? the crown is over used these days ? I ve seen it in some people's works but I didnt think it was that much trendy. Do you have exemple ? I took it from Basquiat, he uses it sometimes on his artwork. I dont know if he meant to give it this meaning but for me, I associate it with his signature SAMO which means "same old shit", I find it kind of ironic ...
    Dan Valkar : Cheers mate, love your avatar. Hooobbbbbbessss ruuuulleees!
    Hey man
    Uni is boooorrrriiiiinnnnnnggggg. The fashion girls are talking shit again. zzz!!
    About your presentation template, i like the bottom part (simple, familiar), but the top part looks out of place. Almost like it should bend up at the right page edge instead of down, or possibly merge with the top edge - at the moment it feels a bit awkwardly cropped.
    If im confusing i will explain at home? Looks good though - good to see your stuff with presentation it deserves.
    Awesome pencil work, man. That warrior priest in the end is crazy, in both design and execution.
    The grandma-piece is priceless! It's the most sinister grandmother I have ever seen.
    Amazing stuff, very good character designs!
