That's true for about 80% of the people yeah. Because that style of painting is incredibly lengthy and repetitive and gets insanely boring after a while.

But it's possible with enough practise and a nice goal none the less, so go for it.

    Stevekim is right.
Copying other artists is part of learning and is part of the diet. However, the feeling that 'If I could only paint like that and I would be complete' is never, ever going to satisfy you. The reason for this is because the part of you that wants this is only a part of you. The other parts will start to plead for attention when they are neglected and cause you big problems. What you do must answer your whole being and that, by definition, is never going to be quite like anyone else. You don't have to look for it - it is the product of feeling comfortable when working.

yeah right, he's one of the best landscape painters in that style that I've ever seen.. sure he's not Thomas Moran or Frederick Church, but who is...

    than do it.
    I've tried. It's hard.

    Chris Bennett Stevekim is right.

You took that sooo literal. I really just wanted to say, hey check this guy out. I didn't really mean I only want to paint like this guy. I sooo wanna paint like Sargent, Repin, Zorn, Leyendecker, Erik Tiemens, etc etc etc but guess what I might not ever will.... so what? I'm not worried about it, so don't you start worrying about it either.

No need to get annoyed - just a 'My post was perhaps a little misleading, I just wanted....etc.....but thanks for taking the trouble to reply' would have been quite sufficient.

well i thought it was cool, and knew what you meant,

im more grateful for these "hey check out this dude" type of threads than most threads here.... it turns out to be the most usefull,

as far as the artist i found him technically jaw dropping, but ultimately a yawn, and a bit soulless...perhaps thats what light meant...who knows,

he's more of a tutorial than an artist.

practice practice practice , lots and lots of practice. And you don't get to be like that , just by painting like him , you have to study all, one you mastered the majority , doing that will be a piece of cake

Thanks for sharing this guy Sergio
Also: people should stop being wankers.
Also: Sergio paints like a mad mo'fakka, do you really think he needs basic philosophical direction on where and how to take his art? Addressing the general audience is different of course.

loop knows this,,,maybe posting this in the inspiration thread would have gotten folks less confused
people seem to have locked onto the literal interpretation of the title

that's all I was trying to say. Sure I was a bit antagonizing with my reply to everyone, but I was just rebounding from the strange response to the thread
