Nice stuff. The left image is stronger, imo. On the right, I'm not quite sure what's going on with the hair. Keep posting.
Aside: Love your sig quote. Long live Gogol!
Since i don't have a figure drawing class right now, here's a few i found from last semester. Somehow i lost the other drawings...
HumbleEgo: Thanks for the comment! (Totally unrelated note: Saw GB the other week, they were amazing!)
Matsign: That's... what it was, lol, a hair study. Not terribly exciting, i know. ^^;
I seriously am going to cry, still life class is so boring. I'd never touched oils before, so i was excited at first, but that's worn off. My teacher's freaking nice, but i hate doing nonliving things... Oh well, so it goes.
lol yeah Still life really sucks. I hate doin that stuff. It helps with understanding how shading and lighting works. So I guess it's not a total waste of time I love your paintwork. I want to learn how to use Painter X sometime. Not sure if you used that, but you've got really good stuff here. Stay on the grind

Kinda unfinished, but i haven't updated in forever. Still life class really does take up all my time...
EDIT: Forgot to post it finished, sorry!

Lol. First times with patterns and drapery.
We always do quick one-session studies, so our paint's always real flat. Added to my habit of applying it too thin, and i have troubles layering. I mean, you can still see the yellow ochre underdrawing on the fabric, haha! We don't notice it until the regular lights turn on at the end. Then i run to catch my bus. ><
I think another problem i have is getting sharp edges. I guess precision will only come with practice....

I wish i could color him more, but... finals! D:
kelly x: Thank you for the compliment! And yes, perfect man-made objects kill me in still life, must practice!

I came in late to class, in the middle of the speedpaint quiz. Pianist with no hands, that makes me laugh. Photoshop, 15-20 mins, with photo reference.
Blanchett (as Dylan) was a more leisurely hour on Painter, with photo reference.
nice.. i like the way you play with thick strokes.. nice work. keep on adding more.
This is the last of the in-class still lifes (lives?), i promise!
Side note, i have figure painting this semester, and i'm really excited. It's what i slogged through still life for! I'll post them when they're dry....
I r excited.
The finished one from class, and Caravaggio copy's gonna get finished tonight (shitty photo, i'm sorry). All in the limited palette, which sucks ass, but full palette starts tomorrow~!
(Thanks Brun and jedi, for your comments!)

I was having issues getting these colors in real-life oils on Friday, so i caved and doodled them in Painter today. Sweet, mint green revenge in half the time. (First time using one of its oil brushes too, pretty exciting.)
The first image we were to do a combination using stock photos:
keep it up
Very nice, have some stars
I'm going to miss my figure painting teacher! I had him for anatomy last semester too, and now i'll never have a class with him again...

My teacher tried so hard to cure me of my watercolor retardation. I came in basically saying, "What is this watercolor you speak of?" since i had never worked in it before. Pain ensued. It's still not my medium of choice, haha.
I feel your pain with watercolors. I never touched them either and I am currently battling with them now. However I think they are working really well, especially the landscape. Keep working, your work is improving greatly.
Eras (with the butterfly) got into Ballistic Publishing's EXOTIQUE 5!
These are all characters from the same story/concept, which i've given the working title PENDULUM. Maurino (with the mohawk) is one of Eras's sons. Moremi is a friend. For more info on characters, commit blasphemy and view these deviantart pages: Maurino, Eras, Moremi.
