    Lou's CA Sketchbook

This is my first Concept Art Sketchbook, don't have a scanner yet so I've photographed some of the pics. Will try and put on more but these are a few just to start with. All are pencil.

Looks really nice, the watereffects really make it special. I see you like to draw hair that's really good. I wish I could draw hair as well as you. Don't have any critique yet, maybe I have some when you upload more

    hey mate,

your rendering is dope but you have to train more proportions.
the ears of the head in your second post is mutch to small an her/his forehead seems a bit to big. keep rockin' cheers lateman.

Haven't been on for a while, so I thought I'd upload a few pictures I have around.

The hand holding the glass and the one holding the pencil is charcoal and chalk.
The quick sketches of hands and figures are done in pencil.
The bloke with the hands all over him is pencil and watercolour paints.
The Deserted Gas station is done in marker pen.
    The portrait is watercolour paint.

I really like the black, clawed hand. Those ornaments makes me want to focus more on drawing details in my own drawings.
    The one with the hands all over the guys body gives me the creeps, but in a good way. XD;

You might want to watch the size of the ears when you draw them. The ones you have drawn here are a bit too small, since the height of an ear usually goes from the eyebrows down to just below the nose.
In the colored portrait (This one), the face doesn't seem to be facing the same direction as the head. The eyes, nose and mouth are drawn from a frontal view, but the head is in 3/4 view. I love the look in those eyes, by the way.

If you can't catch a wave, then you're never gonna ride it.

Thanks to those who have commented. I'll definately try and work on proportions. I guess some people find it easier not to give critique in person, a lot of people at College don't tell me what I need to improve on, you know, what's good, what's bad... Anyway keep criticising.

This pic was a quick-ish watercolour painting. The focus is mainly on the woman in the gas mask and the meaning behind her tattoos.

Good work. I really like the first two, you did a great job creating the liquid.
The hands are good, but try to incorporate shading.
The most recent watercolor has a good concept but the background is very flat.
In the black and white, rundown gas station pic the foreground is well defined but the background is not as well rendered.
The figure with the hands on the torso needs a little work, the arms are too thick at the shoulders, and the face is heavy on one side. Also the red lines in the background don't seem to make sense.
I really like the one min figure studies, you are doing a good job of capturing the gestures.
    Post again soon.

The last one with the tattoo has alot of potential. It's looking abit too messy IMO but also has great textures ( a tricky thing to balance). The rendering on the tattoo is nice.

Great to see all the hand studies too. This is a weak area with alot of people (including myself), so good to see you hitting those studies.
