Hello and greetings from France.
We are a small and new studio and have finished production on our first project Corunea - a role card game.
We wanted to share with you some of our work on it.
Our main goal was to approach paint like style on more than 200 cards illustrations. Here are some of them.
We will constantly upload cards illustrations and concept art in this gallery in the future.
Any kind of comments or critiques is appreciated.

wow, alot of this stuff looks really profesinal and good, but thers some pieces here i relly dont understand, nr 1,2 and 4 really looks a litel amaturish and unfinnished, thers anathomy problems, not as much detail, and really weird composisions and poses.
other thne that its really neat, was any 3d used in those illustartions?
I'll second Lotet's observation about the 3d usage. The overexposed lighting is rarely used in 2d work, so it looks a little wonky.
This pictures are all made from a heavy 3d base. We did not intend to say it was not the case, sorry for that! If you think it is not appropriate to post here, I will close this thread. Sorry
congratulations for this first proyect, and the best! Over the images, well ... incredible the light and the realism... especially in the environments and the last snake picture.
I think for the most part the blending of 3d and 2d is well handled
is just that at times the posses do look slightly stiff, other than that
this show a great deal of creativity and vision!, this are
very well made and original designs, but some the characters
could use a second revision as far a flow goes, specially
on the first image which since is a fight scene should have
better body dynamics, also the hands could use some polishing.
Good, I love and i agree with Gringo about the fact it's not noticiable.

I opened up photoshop and reduced the pictures to average card size pictures.
Now, these pictures do look nice on a large scale, but all those details and readability is kind of lost on the smaller scale.
Take image nr 3 for example, the big green wilderness scene.
In the large picture, you see the texture of the tree, the wooden "bandage' around the stump, several rock definitions in the front of the scene and a mist of trees on the background. The image works.
Now, on the smaller version, you see in the right hand corner some dark branches which take away focus from the tree in the middle, some undefinable masses in the front which are green, and a tree with a very strange, strong shadow in the middle of it's trunk.
So, maybe start from thumbnails and color themes on a canvas size LOWER than the actual card size, then resize it in photoshop to a bigger size when you're adding more and more detail so you can zoom in.
Still, congratulations with the cardgame. You must be damn proud, I know I would be.

In future extensions for the game, we will definetly give more attention to character posing and motions. We were really in a hurry on this first release, therefore we could not pay more attention to it. But we will
#3(armies of the wild),4(hysel Orn),5(Laen) & 7(Ushin) Illustrations are for 80x50 cm prints in 300dpi. Original resolution for this images is around 10000px wide or height. I will try to post a closeup in a next update so you can have a better look at details.
I agree that some compositions with dark masses should have been more balanced.
All the others pictures are for card illustrations (around 6x9 cm).

what kind of reference do you work with? Do you shoot your own stuff, or draw on the photography of others? I assume by the title that these pieces are for work..
Insight Games is a very small independant french based team.
(Unfortunately, we have no plans for internship right now..)

The scenes you've created are really epic and imaginative. Although... that 2nd one bothers me. It reminds me of those horrible deviant art dolls...
This is so right up my alley... I really love, some very imaginative stuff, that isn't derivative of anything else... extremely high-class.

wow! your art is great! I prefer your environments but also the characters are high level! My favorites are the two with tombsotnes or something so... very inspiring, thank you!
