great work man, your faces are quite unique (although it wouldn't hurt to try to study more anatomy). keep it up....

thanks for the kind comments and the critical ones. goog, taking into consideration the basic shapes before working on details is something that i am working on at present. gringo your right i need to sharpen up on the anatomy, your comment has spurred me on to do this. its great to get some good feedback too especially when you have sb's that im jealous of.
heres the first of 4 portraits of the queen im doing for college sort of regret my choice of subject matter but its a bit late now. plus it aint a very good likeness

It looks as though you have the figure down pretty good. I really enjoyed your work. It has a unique look to it, which is what most artists go for.

    Keep up the good work.

    eey,

it was a long time ago sinds your reply. I understand what you ment now. i don't get how people can draw a boy right out of ther minds. I must use an example. can you draw like that and how?

Hi there! Thanks for dropping by and welcome to CA

I so dig your pencils, your line quality is looking great, both confident yet flowing. There's a bit of inconsistency between sketches, but overall I think your showing great understanding of form and values.

Nice seeing you experiment with such different media! The watercolour ones were my favourites, the loose style looked good. I'd however love to see a little more refined pieces, if you're interested.

But otherwise this is great start for sure! Hope you'll keep updating regularly.

Fantastic watercolours! They have a mood to them. You didn't have to write Willie Nelson on the page, it IS Willie Nelson. Great drawing and hatching style, which I can really appreciate when you use pen (from these scans anyway - pencil doesn't scan as well). The dog&duck sketch is beautifully done.

And I wrote 10 as the return amount in my Moleskine too. As if I'd ever let myself lose it!

if those are self portraits in your first post i'd have to say you're very pretty.

    and your watercolors--very beautiful. full of energy, almost accidental. I love it. ;_;

A good start to a sketchbook. I look forward to watching your progress.

Hunterkiller brought up a critique on the first page: sometimes your lines are clean and confident, and other times they are scratchy. The same thing happened on this page. The profile faces have beautifully confident lines, and the figure has several places with scratchy, unclear lines. I can certainly relate to the difficulties of drawing the human figure, but I can also send some advice your way--slow down. I find that when my lines look messy, it's usually because I was rushing. Be patient, let your eyes do the work.

Also- earlier in the book you mentioned that you were frustrated with drawing. I don't know how frequently you run into this problem, but when I get frustrated I find nothing more relaxing than some nice slow contour drawings of my left hand. Just a thought.

Great work so far, hoping for more updates....

Painting is coming along just fine, I think. Sometimes garish colors are all right. You might want to watch the value changes on the back area of the figure--it's getting a little greyed out.

    Oh, those sketches are wonderful.
The legs on the first guy look short though. (I know, I know, it's the pants. Silly kids these days. ;P)

You could warm up the skintones in your paintings some more.
The grey is actually spot on for seemingly blue highlights outdoors but the cheeks would profit from a more rosy/orangy tint.
I really enjoy your hatching. That's an interesting technique to build form like that. (Like on the pants.)
