    yo man, cool update.
sorry iv been mostly just admiring the stuff, its stylized to the moon, its tough to critique something like that, but now that you got some pencils out, its a little easier
im going to suggest the obvious, anatomy studies, just pick up any old pose book from your art shop, they normaly got some archaic 70s hip books lying around with girls with retro hair, good laughs and good practice, and theyre cheaper than medical books. attached an image of it, just tocgive an idea of what the oldie ones look like, i didnt know what i was looking for at first, maybe its the same for you.
as for specifics with your stuff, you use a lot of flat bleached out tones, its awesome, but maybe adding some concentrated reds and blues or just darker but tonally similar colors to outline shadows, everything feels like its floating a little too much, but i can understand its the way you like to paint stuff, but with the way you use them now, there just aint enough volume!
just my two cents! but keep it up anyway, good eye candy.

Hey, thanks for taking the time chimp, i really appreciate it.
Ill definatly try to go get a posebook soon, i tried the posemaniacs thing, but i can see an actual photoreference being much more useful. (I got out to a figure open studio yesterday, hopefully ill be able to draw in openstudios 2-3 times a week leading up to the summer.)
My perspective base is pretty terrible, im not sure how to make amends to that though. I prefer having complete pictures with a subject/character in a setting than floating everything, but thats kind of how i work around not being able to connect the two properly.
    Volume and saturation, gotcha.
Ill attack these points in future posts.

hello rarebit, I always like taking a peak in here! The rendering and gestures in sketches are lovely. Keep working away! BTW, not sure if I've asked this before but do you use really low opacity brushes?

Nothing to post today, damn zyrtec.
Edit: A quicky exaggerated female sketch, trying to work it out, tearing a page out of the ashley wood book while i sort my nonref stuff out.
Eskanto, might aswell call me emmett, i dont know why i bother with the rarebit nonsense... thanks! I have the opacity set too 80% usually, but i also have the brush opacity effected by the pen pressure.
Jens, thanks for the encouragment im a fan of your work here.

From the looks of this, you just have a very painterly approach at coloring even with the tablet stylus (what i mean by that is you apply a very unique brush looking pressure. typically when you see people use the stylus its obvious when opacity settings are mucked around with, cuz everyone always presses softly (i suppose its understandable, tablets are expensive equipment) then again i could just be rubbish with digital painting, and none of this is exactly relevant and its just a tricky opacity level which accomplishes all the above.) but either way, whatever, not a crit just an observation lends nicely to the style..with, double...parenthesis's..

Im not entirely sure what your saying but, im just now kind of figuring out the brush settings that i like to work with and experimenting with some texture junk, i dont blend deliberatly and i dont try and soften things out with low opacities.

So i got up at seven this morning, and worked untill lunch on one (suprise!) painting.
I had this picture (the face was abit different, im not sure how to get it quite) float up in my head last night.
I tried to address volume, setting and saturation, i think it turned out well and with a bit more work will be finished.
    Crits and Comments!

Emmett, (yea! i get to call you emmett! my name's danielle) i think you're very brave with the way you experiment, and I have the same problem with perspective and just creating subjects/charcters floating in space. Well, that's art there's always SOMETHING you gotta learn! Keep it up!

    yoyo!
nice sketchbook, u definitely have a lot of talent! i love your linde confidence. ur not scared to place the wrong lines, and just make a new one when ur not happy with it. it works well for you! ive to do that more!
one thing i noticed as well is that u tend to skip hands/feet, they suck, but dont walk away from them

yoyo! thanks for stopping by, sometimes i omit the hands and feet for laziness' sake, othertimes going in to define them would mess with otherthings that are more general. Ill go for it in the next few though!

Allergies have me down and out, here is a rough for another painting like the one above.

Sketches mostly junk tonight, trying to trick myself into some new shapes with the page of heads, a portrait/ torso sketch of a friend to base a character off of (they would like to do a jules vern style action adventure comic, alot of work, we will see).

Today was my frist time at incinammati for an open figure studio, i like it there alot, this is what i left with. A bunch of shade issues, i didnt use the final minutes so gracefully to finish it properly. Practice practice.

    Dusty in here
Sketchbookings of late, some observational doodles, some non observational. I feel like i came up on a miniature unrefrenced figure breakthrough, most apparent in the secound to last picture.
