PLeon Thanks
I haven't tried a red/blue lead initial sketch, I'll give that a try. And thanks for the advice about the values, it's definitely helped me think more in depth about my approach to colour.
Aryeh It's challenging holding firm to the truth that I know when it's so different to what the world sees as truth. I will hold firm though, thank You friend
So it's the Easter holidays...and I'm as lazy as ever! I had hoped to get loads of drawing done but there's so many people to catch up with that I've put it all on hold. And I need to look at others's sketchbooks as well!
I tried painting at just 100% opacity with my recent painting, it's really tricky! A lot of them just don't have the tonal range, so I need to take Pleon's advice and create tonal underpaintings first. There's lot of work to be done here!
Thanks

And more studies! The first still life I spent quite a few hours on and the Zippo was a quick one. I'm trying to paint as much as I can using 100% opacity, the problem is, I cant seem to detail at a lower opacity because it all goes muddy, argh! Oh well, keep on trying!
Thanks all

Another study...failed a bit.

Yep try more structural work. For sure. Keeping in mind I should follow this advice myself. You'd be surprised how much colour information you will pick up as a result of just pushing form and tone, I have found that it just falls into place after form is taken care of.

RyanRyan Thanks I will do that
I think I'm rushing ahead too much, I need to work on those fundamentals.
So yeah, again I haven't finished these studies, why, WHY!?!? I'm going to see my next painting through to the end!
Thanks

I love myself too much!
Here's another self-portrait, I guess I was being lazy and chose a comfortable subject area. This took me around 1hr30 but as usual I haven't finished it. I'm trying to paint using 100% opacity without opacity jitter but I gave in a bit of the way through and then later turned it off again.
Thanks for looking

Fedora Comic
aks9 Thanks
I'm encouraged. I have kind of grinded to a halt with this current Uni project but now that it's over I'm ready to dive back in!
So, here's a few examples of what I've been working on over the past three weeks. We were pretty much given free reign for the final module of this year so I teamed up with two friends and we made a 1920's gangster comic, it was wicked fun! I use a lot of silhouette's because I'm rather lazy.
Any critique and feedback welcome
Thanks

It's finally the Summer, hurrah! Here's a lame study of one of Luztin-le's photographs. I'm trying to get skin tones right but it's tough stuff!
Thanks

we have luuuuuush weather here at the moment, makes working inside harder so I'm going to try and do some studying outside, probably start learning to paint with gouache. At the moment I'm just trying to keep consistent with the drawing and painting, it's becoming more fun now that I'm not having to stick to the guidelines of Uni.
Thanks

JackCohen Thank You
You are too kind my friend. I'm well looking forward to working on The Game together!
A few unfinished studies, I get stuck at a certain point in the rendering stage and find it hard to take my studies through to a 'finished' point.

A self-portrait...unfinished as standard!

Here's a study that I've been working on but I've grown tired of it, so I haven't finished it, alas! And a painting I'm working on for this weeks challenge over at the Equine Cranium Collective.
All critique welcome

A study that I didn't finish...a large stone egg.

Howdy howdy! Here's a few studies from recently, I'm still finding it a challenge to take my studies to the farthest point I can and call them 'finished', this is something that I'm going to work on soonio. Also, skin tones are a tough one!
Thanks all
