Entropy: Dracanta's Sketchbook [updated September 24]

I don't update enough, don't draw enough and I feel like I'm stalling. I need motivation dude, motivation.

anyways, critique away so I know where I'm going

    Hey man.

Lots of great stuff here and it seems you have quite the steady hand. What you should do, that would be of benefit for both your art and your animation would be taking active lifedrawing lessons. Do continous studies on busses, trains or whatever other public transportation you happen to use.

Be sure to take care of your palette, it is friggin gorgeous!

else than that you are great!

Off to a great start Your coloring style is very enticing, and vibrant. I like it. Lots of great concepts so far!

Amazing. Your character designs are amazng. Your animal designs are amazing. Your colouring is amazing. Did I mention YOU'RE AMAZING!?!?

Can't wait to see more. My only thought is that your people have really short legs compared to their upper bodies. So they look stubby.

Wow, you should definitely post more. Be careful to watch the anatomy. To me it seems off a bit on a couple of them. The colors are awesome, btw. What medium are you using?

Mischeviouslittleelf: great ideas! I never really did any lifedrawing out of class, I'm going to try it in the bus and metro. Thanks for the tips

Meralynn: thank you very much for the critique, I appreciate it. cheers!

CrissCross: wow, thanks a lot for the comment! I just re-looked at my stuff and you're right, the lower part of my characters are kinda short compared to the upper parts. It works well for some though, but I'll keep that in mind from now on. I need to experiment with proportions some more

Quinn Simoes: ahah, thanks a lot! the childhood nightmare pic is a personal favourite, so thanks a lot

Naastika: thanks! I've never had much critique so it feels amazing to post here! I need to practise human anatomy more indeed.
I'm using Painter Essentials 2 to colour my scanned sketches. I do some saturation touch-ups and other fixing in photoshop sometimes

Definitely try just sketching people. I've had my sisters even pose for me while I do 10-20 minutes pencil or charcoal sketches on them, and it seems to have helped me with lighting and rendering.

I've already subscribed to this thread. I'd really like to see more. You seem to have a good stranglehold on your palette. Your clothing design is pretty cool too. Do you just make it up? It reminds me of Final Fantasy 10 type stuff. I like it.

recent stuff, including 2 commissions of an undead WoW priestess, Anell.

and the floaty beasts now have a name, Vintallions~

and there's Ryvein, original character, she's an ascending demon. Kinda like fallen angel but reversed
