    Mr. Spoon's Attempt at a Comeback! - Update: March 8, 2014

Feb. 23, 2014 -- Uploaded some stuff made in the recent weeks today. I used to just post stuff that I thought was the best, but now I'm going to be a lot more honest and just post everything regardless of how embarrassing it is!! Lots of critiques expected and welcomed.

Feb. 20 2014 -- Haven't updated anything in several years. Just recently got back into drawing and have done quite a bit in the past few weeks. I'll be uploading that soon. Also moving the first images to another post so the new attached thumbnail can take over (hopefully)

......Well...I've finally decided (AKA: gotten the guts) to start a sketchbook. I AM a beginner, so I plan on getting eaten by you guys. I am mostly self taught. I'm in the middle of my second art in high school...so obviously I'm not that great and hope this will help me get better... by the way...that's my favorite smiley....

"Fancy man" is great haha. You have some really nice shading too. Not much to critique, in my opinion. Post more!

Well, first off Im going to agree with you and say anatomy. Hogarth is my man for that, but other people around here will say elsewise. However it's all good. Real life is good to study from. Mainly while you're in high school get your studies done. I slacked it for two years and now I am on a rush to get it done before the end of my senior year. BUt nice start post moar!!!!

Here's some studies of Bridgman and random pose stuff..plus some finished renders. The last 4 are copies of the originals thus lose a lot of contrast and details. Oh! And the first of the last 4 is a sp! Any comments welcome..crit, patronizing, ripping into bits, compliments..whatever you want to say!!

So..I have a question..I don't particularly like the way Bridgman goes about teaching heads and prefer Andrew Loomis a little more...would it be unwise to study different constructions of anatomy. I noticed Loomis uses the flattened ball while Bridgman uses the cube. Thanks in advance!

I'll say you're doing incredibly well and on the right track compared to when I was in high school. Your color study of the clouds and waterfall is lovely - the shining of the sun through the clouds is my favorite aspect - and your pencil renderings are gorgeous! Those feet really pop out with all that detail, like the creases of the skin. Your hands aren't so bad, either and hey, hands are hella difficult, which is why practice really does make perfect.

One thing I really think you have going for you is a very wild imagination. Keep polishing your basics and then bring those to your awesome concepts and designs. I would love to see those as finalized pieces someday!

Realism's coming along real well. I'm interested in seeing where all this goes in the near future.
