Those 3d characters look wicked, man!

Any reason for using those unnatural colors in the figure studies? Seems like you would learn more if you tried to use realistic colors. Just my two cents!

Rigging.... *shudders* hope that's left to someone else, but being the modeler/texturer, it might make sense.

    Keep it up, frequent uploads!!!

Two days... thats a tight deadline, but still, nice job

What was the tri count on that, incidentally? The pic doesnt show much detail, so id like to get an idea of how much is in it.

Oil paints! You have an interesting style. The girl's face does have some construction problems, but the painting of the guy is awesome I love his expression, so fun

You've got some really snazzy work in here man! Looking good so far, specially all that 3D stuff.

You asked for some tips on beginning oil painting- I'm still early in my education (only been at it for a year), so I'll be brief and just mention some stuff that steered me in the right direction-

    1) Use a very limited palette and stick to earth colors for a while. Titanium white, yellow ochre, venetian red, and ivory black. The black acts as a blue. You get an amazing range of color with just these paints, and when you get comfortable with them you can expand your palette little by little. I highly suggest that you steer away from the 3 color chromatic palette that a lot of painters suggest, because then you need to deal with using bright color along with all the other hard stuff about painting.

    2) I don't know what your budget is like, but if possible, try not to skimp on materials. You can get away with cheaper paint if you must (although you use more of it, so it evens out), but DO NOT skimp on brushes. Using a bad brush is like trying to paint with a shovel. I learned this the hard way. Get good brushes and treat them like your children.

    3) 80% or more of painting is drawing. Don't ever make the mistake of thinking you draw "well enough" and only need to practice painting. It's an easy trap to fall into and once you lose drawing practice, your painting quickly starts to suffer.

    4) Practice. A lot. There are no shortcuts .

Other than that, read a lot. William Whitaker has some incredible tutorials on this site, and the best book you'll ever read about painting is Richard Schmid's Alla Prima. Stapleton Kearns and James Gurney run some of the most informative blogs I've ever seen. Hope all that helps .

Fuuuuu I'm so jealous you're going to MADE! I EXPECT A HUGE EPIC UPDATE THAT WILL CRASH MY BROWSER WHEN YOU GET BACK, MISTER.

Your anatomy could use a bit of work, definitely do pencil sketches as Sidharth suggested It's killing two birds with one stone.

Oh man you're 3ds stuff is rad! I've been trying 3d too but damn 3ds is difficult Looking good, enjoying all these concept sketches!
Sidarth points out some good stuff! I'd like to add, do what you think is fun. Studies are important as hell but if anatomy isn't fun for you, study enviros or monsters or anything. Enjoying it is key, all else will follow.
