***New Illustrations + Tutorial*** (BIG DL!) >>> Update March 31!

    Hey Everyone,

It's been a looong time since I posted,
so I figured I would hit you with an update.

I've been doing a ton of stuff that is still under n.d.a. (hence, the lack of posts),
but here are a few that I can share with you.

The first is for an upcoming book called "Warbreaker" by Brandon Sanderson.
    Such a good book!
This painting was also filmed from start to finish for an upcoming instructional DVD.
I don't know when it will be out, but I am hoping by July.

The next piece is for a juvenile book called "The Lost Isle of Tamarind".
Pretty epic and a little PeterPan-ish.

Next is a piece I just finished yesterday.
It is for the book "End of the Century" by Chris Roberson.
A must read for hardcore sf/f geeks.

As usual, all the illustrations are oils on board.
No digital in any of these.

Lastly, a tutorial I created for our friends at ImagineFX Magazine.
The issue I created this for has come and gone, so I assume it's OK to post.
If you can find a back issue of it, I implore you to buy it.
The magazine is chock full of extras, including a video step-by-step

    That's all for now.
    Till next time!

    >>>update<<<
Here is a new one for you guys.
This is the fourth in a series that you may already be familiar with, all with which featured this same tattooed girl.
The book is called Bone Crossed.
As usual, oils on board, 16x24 inches.

Great stuff Dan. I'm beginning to break out the oils myself and your IFX article is going to be sitting by my side when I do.

    A+ work man.
I love you you nailed the denim on the punk chick.

You know I actually hung up the page of nose and skull and shoulder sketches you did for me in Seattle.

    best wishes!

VERY informative tutorial, absolutely gorgeous stuff.

Very nice! Cool to see your step-by-step process as well -- but who dared to draw in the heavy mustache on the final cover?

Those look really incredible! Especially how vibrant the color is for oil paints. Really my only comment is in the eyes of all the characters looking upward. (see the two kids in the back of the second image, and the man on the right of the third image) Their expression appears so much more vacant compared to the characters not looking upward.
