You have some awesome characters. Your rendering is good already but needs some sharpening up. I myself am not a painter so... I can't really tell you how.

cool characters, i think the values worked out a bit better in the digitals than the markers but kudos for the traditional work, you don't see enough stright markers these days.

Haxxxor Thank You, thats nice of you to say.

cout<mecha Good suggestion, I haven't done allot of those, Ive been stuck in character design mod these days. Thanks!

    Einen Thanks for looking

Maerrick Thanks, I hope to have more soon...

    Jephyr X Thanks!

FRAYLETOK Thanks, as for your question: for the digital stuff, I use Photoshop CS2, and my process is a bit all over the place as I am always experimenting. I also use pen and ink and felt pen markers for the traditional work.

A digital sketch for today... still getting use to painting in Photoshop

damn dude, your stuff is really bizarre, reminds me of HR Giger.
i like how some things about your characters are totally out of this world.

what the hell? where did my comment go?
well anyway, im really likin the new stuff. the metal tubing on this new piece is great. those markers you use cant be new right? whenever i try doin stuff like that with new markers they always bleed and ruin my drawing.

    Thanks Clochette!

DeKal Good question about the markers, the answer is the are new and they do bleed. Here's my process for a more detailed answer.

    Materials:
    Primacolor Cool Grey markers, 10%, 30%, 50%, 70% and 90%
Pilot Black Drawing Pens, sizes 1-8
Beinfang Graphics 360 100% Rag Translucent Marker Paper

For my original drawing I use animation paper and Sandford col-erase blue pencils

I start with the blue pencil drawing, and get this to the point where I like the design, this part usually takes the longest,

I then scan the drawing into Photoshop and turn it to greyscale. I adjust the brightness/contrast and clean up the drawing to get rid of any dirt.

I then print the drawing back out onto the Beinfang marker paper, this is so I preserve the original drawing.

I start with the 30% grey marker, then the 50% and I blend with the 10%. Once I get it working the way I want I go on with the 70% and 90% to punch up the darks.

I then scan this back into Photoshop and use the eraser to bring back the highlights that where filled in due to the bleeding, and also adjust the levels.

It's a long and tedious process, and one I don't do too much anymore, simply because of time, and I want to generate ideas and drawings faster, thus my turn to digital painting.

    Heres an abbreviated process shot:

Quinn, I really enjoy your digital paintings. The colors you use always turn out very well. I am fond of the paintings you use the red, black, and yellowish color schemes in.

    Keep up the good work.
