What an awesome gesture that girl is in. She's voluminous (not a fat joke); great model.

The first sketch you posted 100% right of the bat, reminded me of Albrecht Durers self portraits. Check him out if you haven't heard his name before

    Durer is the man!
He's actually one of my inspirations, and have had some of my sketches compared to his earlier work. I love his stuff.
I've not really done much color figure stuff, but... gotta start somewhere so,

Yo, good stuff here. Good lighting on the paintings. The flipping girl's upper arm looks a odd, I'm not familiar with that angle but the musculature doesn't look correct.

Hey there! Thanks for commenting my sb! I really like the first one in the sketchbook, the old man - he's awesome. I also like the jumping figure speedpaint in post 3, great flowy lines . I can only come up with one critique and that is that you could use more contrast in your colored works.
    keep it up!

thanks for the comments and crits! I'll look into the arm anatomy, and keep the contrast bit in mind :]

spent a bit more time on this figure, but I don't think I'll work it anymore. Plannin on doin some pencilling practice, and continuing with some digi painting sketches
    anyone have favorite comic pencillers?

I don't usually paint lots of nude figures.... i swear. BUT, it's definately forcing me to think about figure while learning to paint digitally. Well worthwhile.
thinking about doing some architecture studies to round out

Thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. I'm really liking the digital figure paintings that you're doing, and the colors that you're using. however, my favorite is the black and white guy doing the backbend - you really nailed that pose. I think adding some of the contrast from that image into your color paintings would help a lot.

    nice work!

Got a couple minutes? Help me improve!

    hey, thanks for commenting.
I like your figure drawings, you should consider defining the edges better, though. Also you shadows sometimes need darker values, like the places where two object meet should have a way darker shadow in relation to the surrounding (meaning not simply almost pure black). Same way with the cast shadows which are quite too light with that rather dark color in the background.

Hey, thanks for help. Really liking what you got going here, especially the dancing sketches. I'm quite the sucker for ballroom dancing, haha.

just some more custom brush sketching practice. I could proably even pump the values a bit more. I'd like to get some more crazy abstractions going on... or possibly go more realistic fusion.... i just don't know...thoughts?

Nice sketchbook. I like design in the last one.

I would do more of those greyscale images to quickly get some good grasp on values.

    Cheers.

I was impressed by that b/w figure sketch(values) and the dancing pose, can see where the last portrait is going studywise. I'd say go all out do more in quantity, wu-hey.
    Well done.

Good start to a sketchbook, I like that last piece a lot. I think if you refine the eyes and the collar bones, you could call this one done ;-)

word, thanks all for the comments.
farvus - will do with the value sketches, good idea

radost - I plan on quantity! As long as I can keep myself motivated, and your[everyone's] comments help that tremendously.

RandAl - thanks for the advice on the last piece. I will take it to heart... and collar bone and eyes ;]

thanks for stopping by my sketchbook. i know i need to spend some time working on what you suggested.

now for your sketchbook: really amazing flow and rhythm to your poses. your pictures "move". your palette is very pleasing to the eye.

i really like the abstract color direction you've taken in this latest piece. keep up the good work.

Thanks for dropping by my sketchbook! Glad you like my stuff!

You got a lotta good ideas, and lots of good starts I'd like to see you flesh out at least a few of 'em a bit more... Like the studies are better when it comes to seperating the subject matter from the background... I mean... they gotta mesh, but some seperation might go a long way in making the pieces more readable.

The b/w dancers are real nice! More of those!

Keep posting! Drop me a line, and I'll remember to come back here next time you update!
