my (not so) daily sketchbook
MOVED THREADS - posting all new stuff here, check it out =)
hello everyone. here are some sketches ive made for teh past 2 years. teh ones made on scratchpaper were from last year. you are most likely to see more animals and mithical creatures but ill try to do more people. teh first 3 people are from school, they are all face studies. then dragons, a cockatrice, and the sad clown from pinocio. you might see colored versions later.

Hello and welcome to CA !
Are these all from 2 years ago ? they maybe too old to give any specific comments on.
Anyway the dragons are especially nice, really fine detail.

enrigo-i must have wrote it wrongly. the pics on graph paper are from one and a half years ago, the rest are from last and this year. thanks about the dragons.
some other pics i found lying around the room. the structure...anatomy...what ever its called isn't right.

Hey Drob, welcome to ca. Nice to see you posting, but give us some recent pics, that will better help us to help you. I like the dragons, and the ideas are there... I would also suggest avoiding the anime type stuff for a while and get some traditional anatomy studies under your belt, when you better know the proportions you can then revisit them if you like, and you'll be amazed what a little knowledge does.. Anyways, keep posting ;-)

okay im running out of ideas, whats that called..... an artists block??? i know posting old pictures isnt teh best idea but here i have 2 dragon pics i that i drew and colored. i guess i posted them for shading studies. then i have a colored eye. then its a family from some unknown world, i need to put in staffs and sword. i was running out of ideas so a friend wanted me to draw a cat/iguana... it didnt work out, but on that sheat i also added some referece animals. the cat was made up. i didnt know what to draw so i thought i would look at leonardos paintings adn sketches , i wrote description on them.
i should stop talking now.

Hi there, really good start, looks like you took a look of some lessons, and my advice is, i always say work with more shadows, try to use 8B pen or 6B! You may draw some robot stuff if you want, but ill be very curious to see! KEEP IT UP!

okay here i have two old lion king memories. jus thought to put it out cause one has shading. next are horse studies, one with shading, another is jus a toy. dont pay any attention to the rider. the last is the youngest pirate captain ever to sail the seven seas.but the scanner wasn't realy working. and last an upgrade on the dragon. still have lots to do.
also, if anyone can give tips on how to paint with photoshop so it would at least look a little realistic. i dont mean fruits but skin and scales and all that.
March 18th, 2008 #14
you're great with dragons, they look really good. i also suggest more anatomy studies. do some life studies to help you draw from imagination. ^^ they really do help.

iamgale-thanks. i have some somewhat referenced pics here today.
okay. here i have the original sketch of a person. then i tried to photoshop color it, but i guess that failed. i did do better than usual, that's a progress at least. but i still NEED help. the next one is a pencil colored version which in real life looks much better. by the way, i got lazy at the end with the hair, that's why it looks so bad. the last picture is of two pirates (mother and daughter) and a few referenced pics of dogs and a hyena.

can i say spring break. okay, the first is a person who is soo happy to get out of school. the next 2, what do you get when you put a girl and weapons together... this. yay. next a ballet figure. the three are somewhat referensed. then an archer. then a horse, i focused much more on the head and neck from this angle much more than anything else. then a dragon quicky and an update. going slow.

two referenced pages of animals. how are they?
April 9th, 2008 #19
long time no drawings. today i have an idea for this weeks chow. it's a girl who shapehifts into a snow leopard. i love those kitties so i tried to make one. how is it? the second thing is a litvian vase and some animal studies. and the last thing are 4 wizards and thier familiars. had some shading studies in that also.

I very like your dragons too, thery`re just great! I want suggest you to put more contrast in your work. And don`t be afraid of really dark shadows, it will make your drawings look more expressive. And don`t forget to draw from life
Great work, keep going!

ulver- as soon as i find something to draw that would work, maybe apples or fresh bananas they are popular in drawing i heard, ill try it. (as soon as we get apples or bananas into the house).
today i have my chow entry, still thinking i have to do something with it. and i have a sorcoress. the pictures a little small though. i think im getting some progress in coloring. (backfround in painter and forground in photoshop).
edit: what happens when you put me, a mirror, and an hour together? two amazingly bad self portrairs that look nothing like me.

You've got some really cool stuff here. Might wanna try doing some human muscle studies to further improve on your knowledge of the human figure. I really enjoy that dragon head in your last post

some more randomness.
April 16th, 2008 #26
okay. i made myslef an assignment so this is cleopatra a few seconds before she kills herself. it's is just the head piece, the rest will come up as soon as i finish shading it. hope to color it after.
April 16th, 2008 #27
okay so i thought about putting in a few of my paintings. ill make quik describtions so as not to bore anyone. so the first one is a vase with a pumpkin and two apples. the second is the first painting of a portraiat i have ever done, it's called girl with a pearl earring by Vermeer. teh third is a portrait of a friend. the fourth is Vermeers girl reading a letter. and the fourth is a staue of aphrodite i think. last i have cleopatra, done with her shading, ready to color. didnt feel like shading the background though.

today, an elf.
April 18th, 2008 #29
this weeks chow inspired me to do this. nothing much, just the beast only a little different. reeaaly hope aand want to color. the other one is this weeks cow. i won't enter though. its the 3 gilled flying kezkin. it could swim, fly and run on land. it has enough lung space and can run and swim very fastly. its long claws help it climb trees to ambush prey as well as to catch them, and the horn on its nose is used to catch slippery fish in the water while swimming.
