This is a new direction for me. Actually an old. I used to do a lot more surreal/fantasy work when I was younger. For the last long while I have been a realist. You can see that stuff on my web page. I am curious to hear feedback.

Oooh, this is nice. I like the style and find it hard to crit on anything.
... but I'll do it anyway.
His neck is dissapearing into the tree behind him. though, the photo might be responsible for that. But it doesn't hurt to take care of greater variation in value there. Since this is traditional, you'll hardly be able to crop this differently, but I find the space above his hat getting a little short.
I'm not so sure about the shadow he's casting.
Altogether you have pretty similiar edges.
The transition from foreground to background, edgewise and colorwise/valuewise, is pretty abprupt.
The trees to the left and the "line" that the hat makes is kind of a wall and right next the blury, brighter background starts.
Also, I can't really see how he's holding(?) that sphere/eye thingy.
But, man. I like this.
Keep it up, it's a cool direction.
Hey Thanks DD
Those are good points.
Also, I am going to go back and add some detail photos to the original post. Because it is so huge , there are more details that aren't easily visible.--John
