Beautiful work! If only you could bottle your work ethic and give some to the rest of us.
You're getting really good with those anatomy studies. It you get a chance you should looks for "Anatomy for the artist" by Sarah Simblet. It's a beautiful book, although it uses photos with the illustrations. Also, it wasn't written 90 years ago, so it's an easier read than Bridgman (No insult to the man, he's amazing)
I love the comics and dragons too! And the character and weapon designs have a really nice style.
Another marvelous misadventure with the tubes of death! Acrylics!
This one was revolutionary because for once, I was actually sitting on a table, used more than one brush, used a limited palette (that I copied straight from Gurney Journey) and it's recognizable... as a humanoid. If not as me. I basically lost patience after 30 minutes or so and didn't bother to paint my glasses in because seriously those goddamn shadows that the glasses cause.
Also some older character design sketches for an RPG. The final designs are pretty different and there was a ton of different sketches to get there.
Dem robots, can't draw them.
Hope you don't mind that I threw that zombie dog up as my Halloween desktop wallpaper for awhile, it's wicked cool. *thumbs up*
Hope you're well I was perusing your wares and thought of something! yeah! yeah! yeah! I know that must have hurt ha ha ha etc. The big purple lion that you have up there in post 245 (hellion) have another look at it but take out some of the infill and it would make a great tatoo if you want to sell it to a parlour!
Dont really know what put that thought in my strange giant blue head but there you go, LOL
stay well and keep posting and thanks on behalf of all the folks you keep on helping in the WIP section, I noticed that most of them havnt found the thanks button yet.
All the best.
A great kind hearted lumbering bullock
http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=209918 = my Sketchbook
I really like this illustrative style going here, it's sexy and funny and original and i really like that.
You made one of the most random (imo) X-Men designs actually work! Nice going, and good sketch book overall! I'd say if there's something you need to work on more it's colour.
'Course, take all this with a grain of salt. I'm terrible at colour, so what I may be saying may not make much sense!
I took the liberty to make an edit for your super cute pixel bird, that I hope will help you if you want to make more pixel stuff! I hope this doesn't offend you in any way?!
What I did to your bird was to:
- Lower the number of colours from 30 to 14 (including transparency).
- I took away almost all of the dithering. In a very small sprite like this it mostly makes the sprite just look a bit messy, but I left some on the belly for texture... since it's was a bigger, mostly flat area. Dithering can be quite tricky to make look good too.
- I removed the completely white and black colours. Especially the pure black one I felt had to go because it contrasted too much with the other soft colours of the sprite.
I could really recommend this program called GraphicsGale for making pixelart with. And two great pixelart communities are PixelJoint and Pixelation.
From a critique thread in the CRIT&WIP
My home Photoshop stopped working, and there's not much I can do about it, so you can expect to get crappy unedited photos of any possible updates to this thread for a while, if even those either.
Here's the antelope from the previous updates with quick paints on it.
GEEZ your nails were LOOONG! Anyway, love the rest - especially the more cartooney dragons - they have nice flow and form
Eghlsj. Have kinda lost most inspiration to draw at the moment. I just seem to be rehashing the same tired stuff all over. Grumble grumble will be opened again when I have stuff I might like myself. I hear compliments and they just make me angry.
