Here's a new concept im working on. It's an artifact salesman. Sorry, but I actually dont have any process shots cause I kind of went to fast on this one and was like....crap....forgot to fucking do some grabs, and was already into pretty much the stage its in now. But it was the same process as all the other ones.

Your stuff is pretty good. I rate it. I rate it good.
Your paintings are fantastic - great palettes, bold composition, cool concepts. I'm digging the artifact collector.

Great work dude, I love 48 and the progress from the previous version. You said it's not finished yet and I'd really like to see the finished piece. Looks like a scene from doom/aliens. Love the textures most of all, looks like the work of another great artist on these forums called m@

    Later!

I like your Works in progress.... heh, I know, that's weird, but I like more WIPs than final works (for now, because I'm learning how to draw digitally)

    Thanks everyone for the compliments.

Chris, to answer your question I usually work on something between 3000x25000 for most pieces.

Reject D, I hear you on that. I had, and have that problem still sometimes. Reading Andrew loomis' take on color theory was a great start, and also theres a book called Color Harmony, by some chick, cant remember her name but i can find out later if you want, that really helped me out in the color department. Shit, I hadn't even touched color up until 2 years ago. First you really have to make sure that when you do the underpainting you have a pretty good value range, or the colors wont look right no matter what you do.

Try to think when you start a piece what mood your going for, then if you want it to be prodominatly cool or warm. And a big "trick" to color is that the best color pieces, like Singers and such, are the ones that use it sparingly. Brilliant color only looks that way because its next to a dull, if you have a really pure red everywhere...its going to look like poopy and the eye is like...to much fucking red man, but if you have mostly neutrals around it, then that red is going to pop once you add it. So try to use your most saturated colors as if you only had a little bit of oil left in the tube of them.

lol, thanks N1va. It was a piece done for the upcoming aliens games art director, so im glad it looks somewhat from that world. As far as a finished piece, i might go back to it if I find some extra time and I will be sure to post it if I do.

I am just getting up and have to pee now, so please excuse. Hope this helps.

    Cheers

Here is a heavy armored knight i started this afternoon. I think im going to design after old coal furness's and that chared feeling. Anyhoot, I was just dickin around again and was going for something a lot more cartoony at first, then decided it would look better with a little bit more realism.

Any crits are most welcome and appreciated.

    Cheers

Hey man, i know its been said, but i love your style, its so painterly yet at the same time very digital. If you have the time, could you put in some more process shot of your very beggining steps of colour, right after your greyscale layer.

lol, thanks very much Reject. You can do this, anyone can. Just need to study and have no life. If theres anything I can do to help clerify the process let me know. Just dont do the whole hero's villain thing and cut my head in half and rewire your brain with my brains wiring....stuff. yeah.

Absolutely love your work, man! So very edgy. I particularly like the way you leave large parts of the form implied rather than delving into details. It's very artistic, and very effective with your style. I only have one complaint... there's not enough! Post more!
Since it is so likely that they will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage. Otherwise you are making their destiny not brighter but darker.

Seems like I missed a couple of updates already You're fast.

That last knight is quite cool already, I like the edgy furnace feeling you put in it. Couple of things that might need some work: the torso appears really flat at the moment, there's is only a hint of his anatomy. The stove-thingy he's carrying seems a bit out of perspective, you might want to check the ellipses.

    DB update-0.

And thanks for the crits yoit. Yeah, i hear you on the torso. I am aware of the mace elipses though. I dont want it to be sitting on the ground, rather tilted a little bit on its edge. so when i go to detail that area i will fine tune those elipses.

Those are the ones, thanks a lot gundersen.
