First off you do lots of studies on each post which is great to see!

With your heads, some of them don't have a realistic quality to them, though Im having troubles describing exactly why.

I would suggest exploring how you draw and render them a bit more, however - you should do some with soft rendering, with more bold hatching, with varying line thickness and focal points...try some a bit larger than you are now and focus on different things - perhaps you will discover a more comfortable way for your to study. Also, I wouldnt mind seeing a bit more time on the cloud/sky studies! Someone told me something that helped, was that you should vary the edges in clouds to make them more believable, since there are many different forms to them.

hey there kid. great studies; lovely variety too. I think sometimes the line work makes things a little flat. maybe exaggerate shape a little more. and don't use so many straight lines; let it flow.

Hey, your sketchbook is so inspiring. I really like your environments and you seem to have a very good grasp at rendering with both pencil and digital means. Something I noticed in your latest facial studies is that several of the faces seemed to have some issues with their lower jaw, otherwise things were looking great.

Also I'm wondering if you feel like there are any benefits from sketching in both pencil and pen. I'm wondering since I've had the thought of starting with pen sketches to get rid of my dependence on the eraser. But I'd love to hear your view on it.

    Keep up the good work!

Right! Fashion studies! I keep forgetting all the things I need to work on. Thanks for reminding me

How big is your sketchbook? Definitely liking the character development. Is it for anything in particular?

    So many studies.

I like them figure/fashion drawings, the.. flow? rhythm?... Can't remember what it's called but they look natural anyhow.

Do you have a cranium at home btw or are they from pics?

Sorry I havent visited in a bit! Lots of great work to be sure

Its a challenge drawing in pen hey? I don't know just HOW benificial not being able to erase is, but I like doing it and I'm sure we learn from it.

The skull and fashion studies should really benifit - the trick is to try and not forget what you are learning and keep doing it. The way you are effectively doing low detail gestures for things like clothes should make this very possible...now I am going to plan something similar myself, thanks!

If you are trying to test yourself, however, such as drawing the heads, make sure you are taking your time and trying to make it the best you can - if you have a lot of trouble, its a sign to increase the amount of referenced studies

theres some great improvement here man - you're doing all the right things, studies, coffeshop work, gestures, hogarth - you done any bridgmans yet?

one exercise that may also be good is to pick an image that has high contrast with lots of shadows and try drawing just the areas of shadow - no line work or anything, just the dark areas - at the moment you seem to be focussing a lot of drawing features (ie eyes, nose, lips etc.) rather than shapes, and doing this exercise may help in understanding the form.... does that make sense? gak, prolly better to read E.M.Gists stuff coz that prolly explains it a little clearer - im thinking primarily chapter 3: shape analyzation

but yeah, liking your stuff, looking forward to see what progress you make

amount of work here is really good and love those landscape sea studies, keep this up and you will be there (where ever you want to be)
Bridgman could be good ( ihave net version myself and start soon copying lines from it) and you could throw in speedpaintings as well, like 1 h pieces, they really better your painting skills expecially if you use colour & rendering ideas in them from some 5 star masters
