Shit man sorry. Your picture captures the feeling. I've been recently laid off as well. I felt the same but it turned out to be a good thing. I am short on cash but I finally have a lot of time to work on my portfolio. It's worked out for the best. Things will turn out for you. That's what everyone here is for, to help each other. We have to make connections, push each other forward and move up in this industry.

Hey man keep working hard. Somthing will come up again and when it does, it as well as yourself be better. Good things happen to people who wait, I just wish that was the same with bills. If you don't mind what was the job that you lost?

Keep it up. And have a beer.

I can feel you brothah. In the same boat here m'self. I feel like Sketch. Slowly I've been getting a little more of my soul back each day. Had a chance to get back to my roots while I have this short span of freedom from the man.

so they fired one of the next generation of artists whose work will rock the shelves once it hits them? their fault!

all the people here are right:
take the additional time you have, improve, do more, learn... until finally you come back.
let them know whom they laid off!

btw, this drawing is really great! it's got a great tension between the upper and lower part!
hang in there, my friend. if you want to talk, feel free to e-mail(gekitsu@polycount.com) or pm me.

I'm sorry to hear you lost your job Oblio. There's always an upside to things like this though. This is an opportunity for you now to improve your art unhindered bud. Things happen for a reason, take advantage of it.

BTW, awesome sketch. This is powerful, simple, yet powerful, you can definitely feel this piece, which is awesome.

Well Oblio...I'm truly sorry about your job situation. Saw Andrew's tribute for the 11th and wanted to wish you well. If there's one thing I've learned over the past years it's that satisfaction can't be found in our jobs, our situation. That's one thing, especially in recent days, that seems to be a very coveted commodity...steady work.

You have talent, you have a spark that won't be extinguished. Keep your chin up and know that however helpless you may feel at any given time, things change in the blink of an eye. You wake up the next morning and things are completely different. Good luck!!!

    Thank you.
I've bought a new statue - it's an archer (all muscles visible - no skin).
I have a small backup plan - if any of you has any luck or a pray to spare...

I feel so sorry for you, Oblio. I know how you feel, I quit my job in January and have not managed to find a new one till today. However, this isn't meant to pull you down further - I have used my free time as a sabbatical and practised on drawing more than ever before.

It's really difficult in Germany right now to find a new job as a marketing manager...

Anyway, I'm sure you will find a new job soon, you're very talented!

keep yoiur head up champ, you will find more work. usually, for me, when I lose a job, right when I am about to become a bartender, I get a lap full of freelance, and then, as if on cue from Loki, :evilbat: a full time job lands on my lap, forcing about a month of sleepless nights and early mornings.

    keep the faith brother!!

Haven't experienced the feeling of losing a job but have been close several times and considering how awful that felt I can imagine the frustration in you, especially through that image.

Instead of giving up to the world, show it there is some fight still left in you. When my grandmother died a month ago I spent a whole weekend drawing, just to get stuff out of my system.

Best of luck, maybe you don't need it but it's still always good to have some luck to spare

    Red face uf...

Thank you all for your kind words. Unfortunately the plan i had is..on hold (keep pushing) and as a bad thing never comes alone.. today i've burned out my motherboard!
I'm on my father's comp. right now - i've made his portrait while waiting to get my turn - i'll post it here when i'll get my comp. back - and just entered to get a glimpse of the news here. Great stuff guys!
Ye.. that's the story - life goes like this!
(and what if this is as good as it gets?) - my daily movie quote

    Thx. again,

    Oblio

Unhappy well.. no - it got worst!

i've fixed my motherboard but i've managed to burn the motherboard of my father's computer. :bash:
I was measuring the voltage for some USB ports and i've touched smth. and.. ups - no more keyboard control. There is a v. small chance to find a fuse(or a rezistor) burned near the keyboard controller. Otherwise i'll have to change the MB.
Well... it's not pleasant when you burn your comp. but it hurts much more when you burn someone else's! Damn!
Anyway.. here is the promised portrait of my cool father - he's one of my heroes - he's got a full life (now writting books with all he's got in this head).

you can see some correction lines drew by a friend (payed a visit to my ex job today)

Nice portrait - is it a life drawing? My Mum has also started recently to write and wants to write an autobiography on how she and her sister (then aged 20 and 17) fled from the GDR a few days before the wall was built.

What are you fricking with those USB ports?

Best wishes for your job search!

I was in holiday the last weeks...

Hmmm...Oblio, you lost your job, your motherboard, your father's motherboard. Ok, that's what you lost, but what is what you have?

It's YOU, your talent, your skills. It's you, someone looks for. He, she, it or they need you and they seek you. They will find you and it will be better than everything before....i know...and you should know, too!

It's a job...not THE job...how often we think things are worse, and when we look back after a few years, we laugh about what happened, and know, that this was a good thing happened...

As long it's not your mind or health you lose, it can't be that worse.

This drawing you made, and posted first...this image stands for all the things we wrote. It shows all the power of the artist behind.

    oh...

thank you all for the kind words.
Here is how it went from there - while trying to get some data from my dad's comp to mine (in order to work the layout of his last finished book) i've managed somehow to destroy mine .. a g a i n
And after 2 days of real pain i had to go with it to a friend and try to fix it. It was the first time i couldn't fix my own computer.
Anyway - it was a stupid thing with a memory slot.. it wasn't working if all the slots were occupied - each of them was working separately!
As my friend used to say.. the big mistake was that i tried to understand
So.. my comp is back online - now still installing everithing from scratch - all importand data is safe!
About the USB's - i've got myself a pocket hard disk - hopeing to exchange data more easily with some of my friends (i'm working on a demo) - i've managed to make it work on my comp after installing a PCI2USB (with a new USM controller) but.. surprise.. it's not working at one of my friends
Oh.. and did i mentioned that the parrot died right after i broght it in my room?
Anyway.. here is the last "sketch" i've made of it a day before...

and something i did while at my friend... when i was unable to compute anymore and he was having a great time with my memory slots
This is a beautyfull building.. i could sit there and draw all day..

Once again.. thx for the kind words!

    Oblio
