Daisy's Sketchbook - My first post

I'm new to Concept.org. I just signed up this afternoon after hearing about it so often from my friends. This is my first sketchbook post. I'm a little nervous about showing my work in general. I guess this is the first step towards getting over that.

well... I suppose I should write a bit about myself. My name's Daisy. I'm an artist in my twenties. I was born and raised in New York, graduated from college in Florida and then went to work as an illustrator for a multi-media company in Germany. I just moved to San Francisco and I'm still exploring the city. Trying to find my way around all the crazy hills...

I prefer working with oils, but recently I've been trying to figure out Corel Painter. It's been a real struggle for me to go from the canvas to using a wacom tablet...(even more difficult than I imagined it would be) so I thought it might be a good idea to post some of my recent attempts with the hopes of getting some constructive criticism and feedback. It also might motivate me to keep going instead of throwing my electronic pen across the room.

These were all drawn by hand and then scanned + finished in PAINTER. Hopefully I can get some critiques on ways to improve, learn some techniques, and also meet a few cool people along the way.

So if you're reading this, please say "hi!" any feedback or criticism at all is appreciated.

    -Daisy

wow your stuff is really impressive. i'm loving the way you render cloth. only thing i can say is that your darks are really good i would put a little more emphasis on your lights and if not lights just simple highlights would strengthen the whole image and it will help to bring out more contrast as well. but really great stuff. keep posting i wanna see some more.

hi! Thanks so much for your kind feedback!. I guess you can tell that I'm fascinated with the way fabric folds. I'm not sure why I enjoy it so much but it's my favorite part of painting.. I agree with you about the highlights. I'm going to try to bring out some of the lights more and contrast. They're all very dark and need to be popped out. It's something I'm struggling with... bringing out more highlights without losing the detail.

    Thank you!
