    Criticise me please.

    Hi there!

My name is Rory and I've decided to post a sketchbook up.
I'm 16 and desperately want to become a concept artist.

Here is some stuff that I've done over the last few weeks. I plan to sketch everyday - any encouragement you can give me to do this will be most appreciated!

After being inspired by users like Dile and Zynic, I believe I can become a much better artist.
All comments and criticism are of course helpful and really wanted!

    THANKS.

i like your enthusiastic approach. As a beginner i can understand that before reaching good art you have to climb a mountain. From what i can see here, i think youll get there in no time. However, i would refrain slightly from darkening your lines so much and look at real life references before trying to attempt a final, imaginitive peice. However, keep producing the artwork despite what any one says, just look at a few real life references and try to draw them. You will then try and emulate natural anatomical figures in your other pieces of art.

You've got the right approach... draw, draw, draw! It's the only way to get better. I like that I see a mix of stuff here, not just fantasy stuff, but hand studies, life drawing, etc. Keep switching it up, it's good for your artistic muscles.

#3 - His right hand is on backwards. Haha this happens to me every once in a while as well if I'm not paying attention.

#5 - His legs are really short?

Other than those things, I think you're coming along great, just keep working on your anatomy and proportions. I reaaalllly like how your wings are coming along

Lookin forward to seeing you around! Welcome to CA!!

    Mah Sketchbook, holmes.

amishg: Cheers! I dont intend to have such dark lines, I think I over darkened some pics when scanning them in. I'm starting to do more studies, looking at Bridgman's how to draw from life.

clayman101: Thanks you! I'm going to draw as much as possible, i love fantasy but i do really need to do anatomy studies so most of the fantasy/sci-fie stuff you will see will be referenced from other users.

shatteredhalo: Thank you! Haha yeah i looked at #3 when i had finished and saw that but didn't get around to fixing it up.

#5 haha my brother pointed that out to me, i guest at the time i forgot that humans actually have knees.

As you might have read I'm going to get right into more anatomy so that i fix obvious mistakes like you pointed out whilst I'm drawing them. Thanks about the wings, their not very important but i do find them fun, I'm also looking more into the structure of them.

Heres some more sketches on anatomy, only quick ones though didn't have much time today.

lilnebo: Thanks, I'm going to try and do a lot more anatomy this week, and the the week after and the one after that, etc.

Alright I haven't had time to even draw lately with school and other stuff.

But i managed to pop out 2 very small uninteresting drawings.

Good keep it up ..just dont be afraid to draw loose and crazy line`s free your hand ...and look at the shape`s as a 3D way ...and when you want to dress up a character do the body first and then dressem up and then youre good to go ... keep it up
