    Figure drawing/painting demo

Hi everyone, I thought some of you might enjoy these images.

These three images show the process I demonstrated during a 6 day 2007 workshop at The Grand Central Academy of Art in New York.
    http://grandcentralacademy.classicist.org/

The painting was oil on linen—18” x 24”

    It involved three major components:

    1. The Preparatory Drawing
    2. The Poster/Value Study
    3. Form Painting

The Preparatory Drawing involved finding height and width relationships using comparative measuring, blocking-in shapes/forms (using straight lines for simplification and ease of comparison), checking structural relationships and locating the forms through minimal shading.

The Poster/Value Study was a small monochromatic study to better understand the larger value relationships.

The Form Painting Stage involved blocking in small planes by placing small shapes of color-evaluating the color in terms of hue, value and chroma.

I am sorry I am not able to go into more detail at this time however the basic process is similar to the still life demonstration I have on my website which has a bit more in the way of explanations:

Dougless, I saw your artwork at the John Pence Gallery in SF. REALLY amazing stuff. My dad thought that the painting of the flag and sword were real until we got closer. Some of my favorite pieces in the gallery were yours.

Hey!!! I've drawn this model before!

I'm in Los Angeles now, but when I was taking night life drawing classes at the School of Visual Arts I drew this dude a bunch.
It's a testament to your drawing/painting that I recognized him in a split second.

    Nice work.

    Wow

Thanks Flynt, I am learning a lot from you.
Maybe you can write in more details:
How do you mix paint, what medium do you use?
