Hey man, I'm new here too, but it was suggested to me to move away from armor etc and focus solely on anatomy until you can build a human body on which to place the armor Keep up the sketches!

Welcome to CA... I'm new here myself. It's a bit daunting posting stuff here with all of the great talent, but congratulations on taking the first big step towards becoming a better artist.

In my lurkings here, I've heard a lot of what Exquisite_Beast said... learn to draw the figure first.

I've been studying figure drawing from books by Andrew Loomis. You can find them on the net... here's one link I found http://www.alexhays.com/loomis/

    Hopefully it helps you out!
Please take a look at my sketchbook

I'm just a beginner, but I'm trying desperately to get better.

Oh, and I forgot to mention... you could swing by the Classroom for All in the Mentoring thread. Basically there are regular assignments, you can do if you want and get feedback.

They've said it's open to all skill levels, which is good, because I'm by far the worst artist participating

I decided to return the comment. It's great that you're starting a sketchbook. It's a commitment that you should not take lightly. Post plenty, and post often. Draw lots. The hatching tells me that you actually understand drawing, and that's a good start. Keep working.
TimV's suggestion for joining a mentor group is a great idea. I'm going to do that too, but I've been putting it off.
    Keep drawing!

and I copied some arms from Giovanni civardi's drawing human anatomy, which is awesome, and you should get if you don't have.
Sorry again about the small amount, but they're fresh off my pencil today.
my sketchbook is a work of art.

Ogg, Sorry about the lack of hard work going on here, but everyone here can appreciate what it feels like to create on deadlines. Anyway, one sketch, that i feel happy about becuase i finally got the look i wanted on his face, the arms and pretty much everything are lame.

Hey thanks for stopping by man! I like your stuff. I find investing in a thick book of anatomy is well worth it. Bridgeman's Body is my friend! Keep drawing fella, I'll stop by often to encourage you!

like the copy, i think you have an eye. as for advice...
start drawing from references, everything at different angles. i see a general lack in definition in your drawings. keep it up and by the time you 20, you'll never have to worry about a job. unless the apocalypse comes in 2012, like i saw in a magazine. never mind. stop practicing your drawings and start storing food.
