This kind of threw me, too. But I don't think there's a button for it or
anything. I think what you do is make sure the FIRST image attached to your
    SB is square and shows what you want (you don't have to worry about size;
    it'll automatically size it).

Now, when I went back and did that, it somehow deleted BOTH images -- the
old and the new -- so I had to upload them again. Then it worked.

    Good luck!
    dany

Cool nice start. Work in all the big areas you can and narrow you're way down toward details.

Do whatever you want to do, doesn't have to be anything specific here.

that sketch is really nice. But the painting isn't working. Are you painting on the drawing? If so you should lower the opacity (if you are working with layers) and look where you're wrong (esp. Eyes, Nose, lips, jaw-bone).

hmmmmm, i would say that right now you are drawing graphic representations of things. start thinking more about the forms than the shapes. it will give these a lot more depth and life.

    mad potential though, keep painting

It looks like you're trying to stylize your art, don't do that.
Atleast not yet, get some confidence in true anatomy first.

Check some proportion tutorials and work more analogue.
Digital is not the way to go, get some real skills in pencils first.
I've been told that like fiftyeleven times.
    Bit it's really important.

Keep it up, have fun and Good Luck to you!

good start. your sketches are good, your digi paintings need some work, first try to use more of your lights/darks because they will enhance the image and bring out all the contrast the drawing might have. perhaps also try using a harder brush then the images won't come off as so blurry and dull. also do some more anatomy studies, when doing portraits try to get all the features and proportions of the face down before going into the painting. keep posting because your off to a good start.

    some more pencil work.

i did this in art class (i'm a 9th grader freshman)
while she was teaching the class how to draw a branch i doodles a figure.
then she came up to me and said DRAW A BRANCH.
and i crawled under the table

study volumes round square etc ones and in color most important and if u do that in photoshop then dont use photos as references because u have to understand colors and reproduce them as you see them not by colour picking
this could be some practice and it really helps
i say that cause your portraits dont have enough volume
    cheers

i worked 5 hours on it , and it ended up looking like crap.

sometimes it feels like i'll never be good at digital paintings.
    i hate it.
